Re: Have you taken a look at ProMaster vans in person?

Do Travato's use factory swivel bases? There have been many reports that swivel bases would not be available for order initially, so I'm wondering if Winnebago got preference due to volume or if...

Re: Have you taken a look at ProMaster vans in person?

What are you referring to? What is the "crazy airbag situation"? Haven't read anything about airbag issues.

Re: Have you taken a look at ProMaster vans in person?

Thanks for update. A budget Class B is a great idea, particularly if it can double as an everyday vehicle or as an occasional second car due to the smaller size and improved fuel economy. Or as a...

Re: Have you taken a look at ProMaster vans in person?

Is that at SMB in California?

If so, did you get to see inside? I'm assuming the red above is a penthouse top and not another van parked behind it, although color wouldn't make much sense. They...

Re: Have you taken a look at ProMaster vans in person?

Yes, very disappointing. I was told that local dealers decide what to display at show, and apparently didn't have one. Was also told that only 6 or 7 had been purchased in all of Texas due to...

Re: Have you taken a look at ProMaster vans in person?

Spent a good while yesterday at Houston RV Show, and as I had been told SMB wasn't there. And it's too bad because no other company had a ProMaster "Class B" van.

Winnebago/Itasca had two...

Re: Have you taken a look at ProMaster vans in person?

Was told today that Sportsmobile Texas received their first ProMaster in December, and had been working on its new design. She said they planned to start construction of the conversion within a week...

Re: Have you taken a look at ProMaster vans in person?

Roughly 2 out of every 3 camper vans in Europe are reportedly based on the Ducato, so overcoming these challenges you mention can't be that difficult. The Promaster has the spare tire which is about...

Re: Have you taken a look at ProMaster vans in person?

By the way, the Ducato Maxi roof option that is available in Europe would make any kind of overhead- or bunk-bed arrangement easier to design. As you can see from picture, the roof is considerably...

Re: Have you taken a look at ProMaster vans in person?

I like your basic layout with vertical partitions only at the very back so that the living space will seem bigger and more open by virtue of not being interrupted visually.

For what it's worth,...

Re: Have you taken a look at ProMaster vans in person?

Rough, and sectional, but the top of the cabinets are going to be work surface, or counters that you have to clean to put the be down anyway, right? You save ceiling height and can have upper...

Re: Have you taken a look at ProMaster vans in person?

Larrie, the main disadvantage I can see to your plan is that it prevents upper cabinets from being installed in the bed area. That plus using lower 30-inch cabinets could reduce storage space...

Re: Have you taken a look at ProMaster vans in person?

Are you thinking about something like this bed supported off the cabinets but larger and hanging off the ceiling like the Penthouse beds when not in use?

Re: Have you taken a look at ProMaster vans in person?

As soon as there is enough traffic to warrant it. The Nissan is a good example, I think SMB only built a few and we only have one member who owns one, so it doesn't really rate. I'm pretty sure the...

Re: Have you taken a look at ProMaster vans in person?

A budget Sprinter would indeed be nice.

Sprinter resale value should decline with competition. I personally have a hard time seeing a buyer pay almost as much for a used Sprinter as a new...

Re: Have you taken a look at ProMaster vans in person?

Class B's are a very small market compared to commercial users. I doubt they would consider changing the width for a small market in North America.

Re: Have you taken a look at ProMaster vans in person?

I didn't open it, but read that the battery is under the floor with access under hatch. The report also stated that they have jumper cable extensions under the hood -- a nice touch.

Not that I...

Re: Have you taken a look at ProMaster vans in person?

I saw those also this past weekend and was tempted to stop in but I had too much going on. The rear cab light really stick out as an afterthought, like they are straight out of the bulk-bin at napa....

Re: Have you taken a look at ProMaster vans in person?

As a side note, should there eventually be a "ProMaster Chassis" forum sub-section? Like that for Sprinter?

Have you taken a look at ProMaster vans in person?

And if so, what did you think? Did you see unusual potential? Based on your inspection, does it bring anything new to table as a class B platform? How about issues?
