Re: Side by side dinette and gaucho

By the way, here are a couple of pictures of an older 2001 van camper with a narrow single dinette behind driver. Helps me visualize what two dinettes would look like if next to each other;...

Re: Side by side dinette and gaucho

Thanks for tip – more great design ideas to consider. Those folding beds over the cab seats seem extremely space efficient, and probably work great for children and or for occasional use, but it’s...

Re: Side by side dinette and gaucho

Yes but Chance claimed he wanted to have the family at the table. It seems that unless you have a upper bunk you'll have 4 people on one bed.[/quote]

99+ percent of time it's just my wife and me...

Re: Side by side dinette and gaucho

Thanks Larrie, great info to consider. I'll look into the 18 inch table depth to figure out what's driving the 18 inch dimension. That does seem narrow.

In our Class C as well as the rental, the...

Re: Side by side dinette and gaucho

Larrie, how big is your table? We are not big diners so inadequate table space wasn’t much of a concern until you brought it up. If anything I figured two small dinettes would provide more than...

Re: Side by side dinette and gaucho

Funny you should mention that. In May when we rented a large Class C for a long 3 week trip with family, I noticed they sat in forward-facing part of dinette first. Rear facing and sideways couch...

Re: Side by side dinette and gaucho

So Larrie, do you have seat belts for up to 4 passengers on the back dinette? And do you have other seating up front besides driver and passenger seats?

And if you don't mind me asking, if others...

Re: Side by side dinette and gaucho

Mike, I think most RV designs try to put most seating areas together towards the front so people can share the traveling experience. This is common with lots of larger Class As and Cs which have the...

Re: Side by side dinette and gaucho

By the way, I'm thinking that a van 74 inches wide with gaucho and or dinettes limited to around 28 inches wide to make into single beds would leave an aisle about 18 inches down the middle. That's...

Re: Side by side dinette and gaucho

Larrie, what do you mean by "standard"? Are you talking about the dinette being across the van? In researching standard SMB layouts it seems dinettes across, or transverse, are very popular.

Re: Side by side dinette and gaucho

Found the van I saw a while back with dinette and sofa/gaucho arrangement I'm curious about. Seemed OK except for tight width. Beds could be made into one large one.

Re: Side by side dinette and gaucho

P.S. -- would also consider two separate dinettes side-by-side. Could seat four for eating and one dinette could be left down when not used for eating.

Re: Side by side dinette and gaucho

I meant longitudinally. From your comment above it seems you are thinking transverse, otherwise I don't know what you mean by hitting one's head.

I agree with comfort of dinette being limited for...

Side by side dinette and gaucho

What are disadvantages of a side-by-side 2-person dinette and a gaucho?

It's not a standard layout so it must not be too popular. But since many Class Bs are used by two people, or a couple, it...
