Re: Dodge Promaster

Thanks, good to know. I don't want to hijack thread.

Regarding your comment above, I would think that if SMB tried their hand at a Class C or Class B+ again it would be at the lower end of the...

Re: Dodge Promaster

Help me understand what is acceptable thread drift. I'm honestly not sure what the objection is.

The "Trend" is based solely on ProMaster chassis; at least for now. Seems like a direct...

Re: Dodge Promaster

For what it's worth, Winnebago now has Trend model on their WEB site including specs. GVWR is 9350 pounds as expected. I could not find empty weight which is unfortunately typical.

Re: Dodge Promaster

Sorry, I don't drink milk, or Cool-Aid for that matter.

For my van's particular year, the detailed specs show there are significant differences between E-150, E-250 and E-350. The frame is...

Re: Dodge Promaster

They do over time as vehicles improve overall, but it has to be done gradually or they would place themselves at a cost disadvantage against competitors. As buyers we have to demand a higher...

Re: Dodge Promaster

In my opinion you have cause and effect backwards. GVWR is meant to represent some measure of reasonable safety based on design's weakest link. My E-350 factory brakes are marginal at 7000 pounds,...

Re: Dodge Promaster

I seriously doubt RV manufacturers can just build whatever they want. There are governmental regulations that restrict vehicles in many ways, including the max load the chassis is rated for. ...

Re: Dodge Promaster

If you read some of the other posts on this forum it appears that many SMB's are operated at or above the GVWR. Seems to be pretty common with RV's in general.[/quote]

You are right that it's...

Re: Dodge Promaster

In my opinion the "Trend" seems like a lot of RV for a 9,350 pound GVWR chassis. I'm guessing the extra weight of a slide-out is too much unless they can get a higher rated ProMaster chassis later...

Re: Dodge Promaster

Additional picture video of Winnebago Trend based on ProMaster is available on WEB. The Loft bed in center of unit is quite interesting for a small RV that doesn't have over-cab bed.

Also...

Re: Dodge Promaster

Thanks for link. Some nicely thought-out and tested design ideas to pull from.

I'm curious to know why the shorter "6-meter" RV van seems so common in Europe (or maybe it's just England) in lieu...

Re: Dodge Promaster

A Winnebago sales person in Texas gave me a little information on the two floorplans for the Winnebago Trend and Itasca Viva. Will pass along information as best as I understood him for anyone who...

Re: Dodge Promaster

Winnebago Industries seems committed to ProMaster chassis. In addition to Travato class B they are also planning Winnebago Trend and Itasca Viva class B+

They are about same width and length as...

Re: Dodge Promaster

That’s a safe bet considering that in 2009 RVBusiness reported that 2 out of every 3 motorhomes in Europe were based on the Fiat Ducato. If accurate, it means Ducatos outsell Sprinters and Transits...

Re: Dodge Promaster

For those who are following this very different RV-van to US market, we may start seeing them soon.

My wife and I were at a Winnebago dealer yesterday comparing three Mercedes-based RVs for size...

Re: Dodge Promaster

Sportsmobile now has a ProMaster section on their web site. It confirms they will be building on all sizes. Also of interest is that diesel price is shown on pricing list. Not that bad at well...

Re: Dodge Promaster

Regarding my previous comment about GMC motorhomes, the ProMaster has a reported step-in height of 21 inches, while the GMC motorhomes had a step-in height of only 14 inches. And these classic...

Re: Dodge Promaster

Rob, the ProMaster will come in three wheelbase lengths (118, 136, and 159 inches) and four body lengths. The longest body tacks on an additional 14 inches of rear length/overhang to the 159-inch...

Re: Dodge Promaster

That's a great point, but the GMC were much longer and lower to the ground than the biggest ProMaster/Ducato. And unlike the GMC, designers can keep much more of the weight over the driven wheels. ...

Thanks for making a new guy feel welcome. Not trying to convince anyone of anything really, just pointing out that there is nothing new or inherently bad about FWD for some types of RVs. It will be...

Re: Dodge Promaster

Would agree the new Ford Transit looks newer and less boxy than the Ram ProMaster/Fiat Ducato, but there are reasons why the Ducato is so popular in Europe for class Bs. For those of us not looking...
