Re: How strong should E-350 parking brake be?

That's exactly why. Only took a friend driving 10 miles with it on to make it nearly useless again :f1:

Of course, that happened not less than a week after they were adjusted... He'd never driven...

Re: How strong should E-350 parking brake be?

Hmmmm it still has a star wheel adjuster, even with disc since the parking brake is still a drum brake. It's just REALLY hard to get too (that's why I feel its easier to just pull the rotor off).

It actually is just like the old days;)

Simple star wheel adjuster. Super tough to reach through the backing plate though, its a lot easier to take it all apart and adjust with the rotors off.

Re: How strong should E-350 parking brake be?

This problem is inherent to any live axle with drum brakes. You may have not noticed on your cars because they didn't have as much weight to hold back, or made as much torque to overpower the rear...

Re: How strong should E-350 parking brake be?

Oil on brake pads can cause a "glaze" on the drum. This has to be removed to restore braking performance, otherwise the pad/shoe material cannot deposit onto to iron surface. When I encounter this, I...

Re: How strong should E-350 parking brake be?

Properly adjusted it will hold the van even on the steepest slopes. If you cannot push it all the way to the floor, than it's properly adjusted.

If the axle seals are leaking, gear oil can...
