Yes, the wheel bearings are lubed by the diff oil. Definitely can contaminate the oil and trash other parts of the diff if things were driven on too long.

I would not recommend this swap on the road. You'll need to source perches, get the pinion angle just right, move shock mounts, and modify your driveshaft, modify the cables etc.
