QuadVan in Portland still has a crate of new 2WD takeoff axles. I'm not sure what he's selling them for now, but at least you can pick them up yourself. Shipping is the worst thing about trying to...

I would not count on any aftermarket alloy 16" wheel to clear the '08+ calipers. It's a tight fit with factory wheels.

Re: E250 Brake Upgrade Finished Now With Photos!

The Alcoa's fit. So do the newer Ford alloys (which are not Alcoa anymore).

Its the aftermarket alloys that might not fit. I have 17' Ultra's which don't leave much space. I doubt the 16" version...

Yes, 16" wheels fit. That is still stock size on even the new 2015s.

Re: E250 Brake Upgrade Finished Now With Photos!

Stock SRW-rims use the conical lug nuts, as to Vision Hauler wheels I'm planning on getting next. The stock Ford DRW rims all use the lug nuts with integrated flat washers, like the big-rigs use. I...

Re: E250 Brake Upgrade Finished Now With Photos!

E450 frame vs E250 is just lightly taller, but also much thicker. The other dimensions are all identical. The Hellwig brackets for the E450 will be made for 4" axle tubes. Other than the axle...

Re: E250 Brake Upgrade Finished Now With Photos!

The way the rear sway bar mounts to the frame, the slight frame differences shouldn't matter. If you found some new sway-bar pads to weld to axle, that would be the only real difference, as the E450...

Re: E250 Brake Upgrade Finished Now With Photos!

Both mine and my dad's vans are 2000 model year vans, and have disc brakes. I was pretty sure '99 was the first year, at least for the E350s.

Re: E250 Brake Upgrade Finished Now With Photos!

I actually didn't see the crack. I had what sounded like a squeaky tire! I was afraid I was getting tread separation, so I went to Les Schwabs for them to check it out. They couldn't see or feel...

Re: E250 Brake Upgrade Finished Now With Photos!

Interesting article but it would be nice to know how to create that transfer layer. I didn't read anything specific how it can be best accomplished.

Re: E250 Brake Upgrade Finished Now With Photos!

They are. All the vans get E450 brakes up front now. I'm pretty sure most aftermarket 16" alloys would not fit. Its tight with the steelies (I have 17" so I'm good)
