If you plan on carrying cargo on roof: powered top is a must...not an option
If you plan on not putting anything significant on the roof: power or manual ....both will work

You can save 30-40 lbs of lift with a manual top if you don't follow the normal top raising procedure and your van seals reasonably well. CLOSE all doors and windows and turn the van dash blower on...

We have a manual top and it works fine for our wants and needs. The drawback is as stated, if you want to carry any significant gear up there you would need the powered top or remove gear before...
