The pins are just ribbed plastic. They may push out w/o damage. Especially after you get them out and lube them. Also, they are cheap from SMB (maybe free).

The complete rubber gasket replacement is cheap ($40-50). You may want to buy a couple of 3 foot strips and treat them with something and see if you can find a formula that the vultures don't like.
