I had a similar thing happen with Eli's brackets.

The awning legs were mounted to the van body ane when a gust of wind lifted the awning, collapsing the spring loaded arms and twistingthe awning...

They are brackets for the Fiamma awning. The SMB brackets require holes drilled in the body, and frequently cracks spread out from these holes. Eli's brackets are modifications of Fiamma VW awning...

Jeremiah,

If you want to make some, modify the design to reduce the setback of the awning by 1/2"-5/8". My awning (and others) hit the penthouse until the brackets were modified.
