Which is then disconnected from the driveline (driveshafts, differential and wheels) if the t/c is in neutral.

Good to hear that you were using organic wheel chocks though.

Just be careful when working on a transfer case, especially the linkage. Pop the t/c into neutral, and the van could easily start rolling while you're underneath it. Chock the wheels to be safe.
