I learned my lesson (more than once) about not using metal tools to remove plastic interior parts .

I've had much better luck with hard nylon plastic pry tools, like in the link below. No gouging...

Good idea. Do you close all but one vent so there's more air pressure for the one vent that you are cleaning at a given time?
