I too will be leaving for Baja at the end of the month. My first road trip there and i am going solo with my dog. Would love to hook up for a caravan. I have many of the same concerns.

I had the backup camera replaced but I am pretty sure they spliced into existing wire near the back of the van. I will call and ask if they did anything under the dash although I do not think so.
