Curious about the Jasper rebuild...

Jasper is one of the largest engine rebuilders in the US. A bigger question is why it needed a rebuild on a low mileage 7.3.

Would anyone with a clear head (since I have lost mine) mind going over the pros and cons of this set-up? Like this rig. Possibly too much to make a rational decision. Here's our priorities:Top on our list is drivability (I'm gettin' older and it needs to be at least as comfortable as a Subaru Outback), we tend to keep our vehicles for a while, so the diesel is appealing. 4x4 was icing on the cake, and the interior has all the "good stuff" that is on our list. We live in California (emissions concern).

What should I be thinking of?

For the price and what you get it looks good to me. I'd replace the tires immediately, and make sure you have whatever reverse lug is needed for those wheel nuts.

No top is the only real drawback, as far as driving comfort it's going to be an older 4x4 van, each of which puts you away from the comfort of a Suburu... 1. older, 2. 4x4 and 3. van The leather seats look comfy and for the price you may be able to afford some mods to the 4x4 if it needs to ride better.

I find the YouTube format hard to follow, but that was my take.

Based upon the company that did the rebuild and the year, I'm guessing that it is the 7.3 IDI motor, not the Powerstroke. The 7.3 IDI came in two flavors - turbo and non-turbo. Do some research about the differences between the two motors. In a nutshell, the PSD will have more power, and will likely return better fuel economy. The IDI is all mechanical (less electrical stuff to go wrong), typically has cheaper parts if does need them (injectors, glow plugs), and like the PSD are known for going miles and miles. Both add the additional noise element compared to their gas counterpart, so try and test drive to see if that bothers you.
