Hi All
Not sure I am posting this in the right forum so please relocate if need be.

I got my ford e350 2003 7.3 a year ago. It did not come with cruise control. I figured no big there will be a after market. In fact I remember my did put on in his van a 100 years ago. Well there are no more after market CC for this van. Ford used to have a kit but it is long since discontinued. I called dealer after dealer trying to figure what was in it with no luck. There is one post here that has some info but it was not quite detailed. After months of research I think I found out how to do it.

So first thing you probably need to do is make sure you have the CC light in the dashboard. Second make sure you have a connector for the CC break switch(see attached). So in my case I had the connector however, my master cylinder does not have a port for it. So I am left with two options. Change the master cylinder or put a in line T and attach the switch that way.

I found a good video

1. check break censor https://www.ebay.com/itm/Cruise-Con...e=STRK:MEBIDX:IT&_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649

3. check clock spring and controls https://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-OEM-19...e=STRK:MEBIDX:IT&_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649

4. replace master cylinder https://www.autozone.com/brakes-and...inder-brake-system-/979631_0_2558_5520_167003

or add a in line T and attach switch that way.

5. replace steering wheel https://www.ebay.com/i/122729947911?chn=ps

6. if needed go to dealer to turn on CC in computer

I will keep you posted as I execute this. Any feed back from anyone who has done this is appreciated. Hopefully this helps someone else too.

Im in the same boat!! I got my steering wheel and the clock spring from the donor (but its no good..I checked)

I dont have th pressure sensor on the brake MC
I dont know if I have the CC light (I think I do but need to look again)

Ive seen where some folks get away with just swapping the wheel and spring clock...and it works..

some say it needs turned on also...

I just want cruise...so I can cruise!!!

I added CC to my 2001 7.3, it's easy as could be.
Ask me any questions and I'll do my best to answer and maybe get pictures if needed.

I'll make it a 12er!

I've been considering stopping my '99 7.3 build before it even starts because my van doesn't have cruise, PW or PDL and many threads on the forums say adding them is either very difficult or impossible.

My 01 is the plain jane... except for the 4.10 rear, dual alternators and hight top (before I bought it)
It didn't even have a cassette player, only am/fm.
I've been on the hunt for power front factory doors in matching white in budget!

Don't stop building, adding factory items / accessories is part of the fun, nothing is too hard and just give me reason to travel more...

Bbasso, so did you do everything on my list? or did you do somethings different? Yes please any pics you may have will be great.

To pull the steering wheel off, just back out the bolt half way and wiggle/yank til the wheel is loose then remove the bolt and wheel. No need for a puller.
Be very careful with the clock spring it will try to unravel and that is a pia to get right again.
There are two plugs under the dash from the clock spring.
The brake pedal release thing needs to be mounted just above the brake pedal and there are holes for the bolts already. Just set it up so the slightest pressure on the brake pedal will shut off the CC. Those wires run into the engine bay.

ok so if I follow you ran the wires from the original switch that would connect to the master cylinder switch in through the fire wall. Connected to some sort of relay and to the break pedal switch. Is this correct? how did you run the wires through the firewall? I would love to see any pics you can get or at least what relay you used and how it was set up.

the steering wheel and clock spring I get and know how to do.

thanks

No relay, as for running the wires, I was lucky the po had cut a hole in the firewall.
I'll see what pics I can take, it's getting dark outside.

Brake pedal release switch.

Those two wires(orange and green) run to the brake booster. I'll look at how I wired them tomorrow. But either they go in line of the plug on the d. side of the booster or in between the plug from the booster. (I can't get in there, too hot)

Here's some info not many people know about.

IF you can find these TINY TINY little bulbs, the switches on the steering wheel can light up.
Btw, anyone want to sell me a few of those bulbs?
