Im looking to replace my current rear swing steel bumper with either the U-Joint or WeldTec products. I like how the WeldTec swing arms lock in the out position, but I prefer the U-joint design.

Anyone with the U-Joint bumper care to chime in about the pros/cons of it not locking in the out position. Im worried about the arms closing with high winds or positioned on unlevel surface. Maybe its a moot point...

I have a Ujoint and they are tight, i've never had them barely even move once swung open and into place. I've currently got a 37" tire on mine and it sits perfectly at 90*.

I have a U Joint.

Pros:
Fits a 37" rear tire - ish. Need both swingouts open to open either rear door. Tail light is lightly blocked on drivers side, but there are aux brake lights in the bumper so thats nice. 35s would be better.
Seems built well, doesnt squeek, rattle, or move at all.
Looks good.
Arms don't move even when parked mildly off-kilter, the pivots are reasonably stiff. Ive never had an issue.
Hasnt needed any maintenance or fiddling, works as good as when it was new.
Once you get the hang of it, its a piece of cake to open and close.

Cons:
Price.
The little bolts that go along the top and hold the aluminum skin on get real real close to the doors. I have had them hit the doors when parked really off-level or when using levelling blocks to get the van body level and flexing the suspension. The little bolts also look a little cornball.
The Pelican case kind of sucks, its smaller than ideal and unless you buy or make shelves its borderline useless. I made shelves and am holding out for a better/bigger box.
