That would be a spider's exoskeleton...pretty neat find on one of our hikes, was hiding in a crevice, Lake spotted it. Most likely a desert tarantula, he took it in to school for show n tell.
Other items in photo: my spyderco knife(how appropriate)

Great photos Alex! :l1: Thanks for being the group photographer. Are you available for future trips? :i2:

Wow, never seen snow in Fish Creek area before. Not to rub it in but we took a quick trip last weekend and it was upper 70's, lows in the 50's.

I sure wish I would have made it looking at those pictures. My van is still down dammit. Now I see why Chris was so cold. Must have been a cool breeze around there.

I'm sure it was the coldest weekend ever recorded for that location. Recall that I changed from Mojave to Anza at the suggestion of Tapatio and Charlie56. It was an anomoly no doubt but it was cold during the day and bloody cold after sunset. It was spectacularly beautiful regardless and Alex has captured the essence of the gathering with her photos. I think the shot of Ruth says it all about the cold. In addition to the furry hat and 2 jackets, long underwear and wool socks she also had heated insoles and gloves on.

Yes, it was definitely chilly.....Eric-Robb (rallypanam) tried winching me up, actually we really just tried using his van as an anchor from above and I ran my winch, but I was pretty buried and we both had our winch lines all the way out and a long tow strap in there as well, so there was a huge distance to pull and lots of line, I gave it a go but it didn't seem to be working and I didn't want to test the breaking point of my new synthetic line, I didn't have any issues backing out and down....next time!

And why I love my heater Chris. But I'll bet Mojave was just as cold. It's a roll of the dice. Myself I love adverse weather.
