I have a E250 Quigley camper build that weighs 7400 pounds. I'm about to do the gears and wanted to know if I really need to move to a full float rear axle? I do go offroad but nothing crazy as it is pretty heavy to do too much.

At that weight, you must have an RB? Usually those are ok. It’s really the rear axle overloading that causes issues. The E250 rear axle is good for about 5,600 pounds and the E350 semi float is good for about 6,400 pounds. It’s not unusual for an EB van to top 7,000 pounds on the rear axle, and that’s why some of those really need the upgrade.

If you decide to swap out for a full float, I have one for sale. Located in Portland OR.

2001 E350
88k miles
3.55 gears
Disc Brake
