I have a batch of home brew that I'm thinking about pouring out....... is this a kid friendly event? either way count us in.

Kid, dog, wife or (not and) girl friend friendly :a1: I will have to check the rules about home brew - we don't want anyone to die!

I suppose you can't enter a beer that has already been consumed.

Well, you would have to enter a consumed 6-pak. If anyone wanted to try a sample and grade it I suppose we could let them. I think though, we would need a separate category.

In this case the entry would not be eligible for a trophy but the judge surely would.

Keith

Sorry it's taken a while to reply, we've been on a two week five state ski/ hot spring tour...... Most of my home brew is better than anything off the shelf, but sometimes things go..... well.... wrong! I'll bring a sixer of store bought "competition" beer and something good to help us recover.... see you at the beach.

I am so bumed. I love bad beer, and Stinson Beach is a great place to get togeather with fellow SMBers. We are taking the tank and heading for Seattle that Friday, so we will not be able to participate in such a great contest. If the date changes, we will try and be there. Have a great time and enjoy those great brews (all beer, even bad, is by its nature good).

The Pecks :b5:

This sounds really great, except for the bad beers. Can we bring good beers too to help create a spectrum or scale?

Also, is there camping at Stinson or is this a day event?

Suz

This is a day event but you can camp in the area. You can bring good beer but it must be separated from the bad beer in an extra cooler or dragged behind your SMB. At no time can a judge hold a bad beer in one hand and a good beer in the other . . .

Details will follow. Up to my ears now in planning two other trips.

Regards,

Keith

I'm drinking a bad beer right now. May have to do this and make an extended trip out of it. This may require some planning which I'm not particularly good at.

Wait...my first post. Haven't introduced myself yet. I'm drinking bad beer now. Contemplating traveling a great distant to drink more bad beer. And I've replied to my own post. :b1:

Replying to your own post is perfectly acceptable in the SMB forum. Also quoting yourself, citing yourself as a reference and pretending to be an authority.

The “unauthorized” SMB Bad Beer Contest :b5:
July 18, 2010

Stinson Beach 10am until we’re done. Look for our silver Sprinter and park as close as you can. Please drive carefully. Please bring a beach chair or a blanket. It may be hot. It may be cold. This is a typical northern California beach.

Each bad beer will be brought to you if you are located close to the unauthorized SMB Bad Beer Contest mobile headquarters in the beautiful, wonderful, award winning, you-will-know-it when you see it, SMB Sprinter.

Each entry will be assigned a number.
2 entries per person max. Entry fee is $.05 per beer (reduced from $.25). Any beer costing over $8 per six-pack is automatically disqualified. Home brew is not eligible as we do not want any participant to suffer permanent brain damage.

Beer will be judged on three factors; flavor (how does it taste), mouthfeel (is it foamy, weak, carbonated), and on aroma (does it stink). Scale 1-10 with 10 being the worst score possible. Scoring will be made on the unauthorized score pad. You can also make short comments about anything on the score pad.

Beer will be served in small paper cups and does not have to be consumed just tasted. Beer may be poured onto the sand but please secure your paper cups. You can eat or drink anything you like between beer samples.

Trophies for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place. 1st place winner will either have to drink a bottle of the winning beer or spit into the wind – their choice.

Note: This event is an unofficial, unauthorized, non-binding, unplanned, spontaneous, audacious, incomprehensible gathering of Sportsmobile owners, guests and want-to-be owners. SMB denies knowing or wanting to know any participant.

Acting responsible for anything, anywhere or at anytime will not be tolerated. Parties exhibiting responsible behavior will be only be invited to future Winnebago events.

Regards,

Keith

I was up there today. Cold and windy. We will most likely set up in the first picnic area. The beach is over a berm which is next to the picnic area.

It started to get crowded about noon but this was a weekday.

If you haven't driven it, the road is quite exciting. Throw in bicyclers, idiots in some type of rental race cars complete with helments, people from Kansas driving a motorhome and it becomes a Disney ride.

Keith

... and a bunch of drunks in big vans! :a2:

The trophies are here! Now you must come and bring your bad beer.

In the future these will be highly sought after memorabilia supporting the legends about owner's of Sportsmobiles. Passed down in history, coveted by normal people who are threatened by the legends of independent men and women crossing the country on dirt roads in big bad ass vehicles and an occasional sophisticated Sprinter.

Most likely the north so I can park near a table. The south wasn't open when I was there last.

Henry, you are the only one who has acknowledged coming so it may ba a low turn out.

Anyone else planning on attending?

Keith
