Best water jugs?

86Scotty - Great idea!
Never even consider pressurizing one - cant wait to see how you did that.

I was about to place an order but it was $30 for shipping? Maybe Amazon has ruined me but that seems crazy. Trying to buy two 10L's and it goes from $80 - $110 with shipping. Seems rather steep for two water containers...

water jugs.

I keep 3 jugs on top of my box, two black and one yellow. Had them for years. still look new, 5 gallon each.

Came back from a trip to Sportsman's Warehouse, and it turns out they have Scepter Military Water Cans (MWC) in any color you want, provided of course that color is Desert Sand. They had both the 5 gallon and 2.5 gallon, which is the first brick and mortar store that I've seen with them on the shelf. Prices weren't very good, but nice to know I can grab another one if I want.

$63.99 for the 5 gallon
$49.99 for the 2.5 gallon

I just bought the LCI version here in the 5 gallon size for $36 shipped to my door. Personally, I don't see any difference in quality or construction from the Scepter brand. I read that they are both made to US military specs.

I picked up the blue septor 5g and installed the below spigot from amazon for 11 bucks. setup has worked perfect for us.

I just drilled a hole and used the hardware included. heres a better pic. it comes with everything needed.

Not original on my part, but I got a little tired of filling my Scepter MWC from my water tank, and then tipping the MWC to dispense water. I tried a spout with a valve, but that tended to drip. This pump does not pressurize the can, it essentially pulls up the water with each stroke.

The details and parts used are in the instructions on the link below.

More & more I appreciate gadgets & mods which are functional and alleviate the dependence of electric or battery power. I like this one Herb!
But, there is also something to be said for the "pressurized" mod for these scepters - had the opportunity to see the one 86Scotty put together a while back and it worked fabulously...impressive "spray" ability, and a simple install. I ended up going the WaterPORT route, based on what I saw from his.
