:b4: We will occasionally be visiting family in Las Vegas and I'm looking for nearby places to camp. My family lives about 10 minutes from Red Rock. I was there last week and the Red Rock BLM campground was full and I was told it often is. I also saw a couple of campground up Charleston, but they too are probably full when there isn't so much snow on the ground. An offroad area would be preferable.

Try Lovell Canyon, Mack's Canyon, Buffington Pockets, or anywhere along the banks of Lake Mead if you want primitive camping. Tomorrow I am heading to Kingman Wash near Hoover Dam to camp and kayak. There probably will be no one there. If you want to be in the Red Rock Campground just get there early on a weekday. If you need directions to primitive spots, send me a PM, email or I will give you my phone number to call me.
