Cape Cod check in, '14 GMC Savana Awd

Hi all. Bought a 2014 GMC Savana Awd explorer conversion. Low mileage, really good/perfect condition.

Been lurking and learning. Previous Van's were an 89 VW syncro Westy and an 01 Eurovan camper.

So, plan is to make this beast into a camper.

Thanks for all the ideas. I will be starting soon... and I am sure I will have questions...

Good to have you along Sam. First things first. Get a GoPro and a helper and take that thing down a rutted road as fast as possible and tear those fender flares off. The revenue fromthat video on Youtube on that should pay for all sorts of upgrades and mods if you play your cards right.

I wish Weldtec sold suspension's for the AWD Express/Savana vans, but unfortunately they don't.

Boulder offroad does. Lots of pretty easy ways to go a couple of inches up on these. New keys/torsion bar levers for the front and blocks for the back....pretty inexpensive. Anything more than a couple of inches though and you’re CVs and tie rods won’t be very happy.

Yep, Whit knows a ton about Chevys and there is also a huge thread or two? on Expo about them. If I remember right one of the guys who started one of those threads did a really excellent build as well. I may be mixed up but I think his van is all Rhino lined? Anyway, the info is out there.

Other guys to ask here are Marret, Telesteve and Rockbender. I'm probably forgetting a few. Check out their vans/builds though. Lots of great stuff buried in there but they are a few years back.

Eric is right, couple great AWD GM threads on expo to check out. My good buddy has the Boulder 2 inch kit and it works like a charm. Easy and inexpensive way to get a couple inches up. Depending on shocks you may need extenders as well or just new ones.

Another interesting affordable option to get lift and strength in the back is to add 2500 Suburban springs. Can’t remmeber the years that match, but some are basically a direct fit.
