My wife and I are enjoying the last season of Westfalia camping before we graduate to the SMB later this year. Our first trip this year was to see the wildflowers in Carrizo Plain National Monument, a beautiful valley west of Bakersfield. This was the first time we have "boondocked" and we had a blast! It also gave me a chance to try out some of the new gear I have been acquiring (See this post).

The complete gallery can be found at http://gallery.stevenportnoy.com/main.php/v/20100320_carrizo_plain/, but here are a few highlights.

Man I never realized that was west of Bakersfield. Nice pics...gonna have to go there one of these times. Thanks.

Great shots! We headed over Tehachapi Pass east of Bakersfield on Monday 3/22 and saw similar color. We didn't get any pics - too busy dodging trucks going up the hill. Thanks for sharing.
