Cash in hand...

Having had the 7.3 and now the V10 for me it is the V10 all the way. I liked the 7.3 in many ways but the V10 can act civil when needed and no EGTs to constantly monitor in the hills. The 5 speed tranny is also a nice extra over the 7.3. Still the 7.3 has its own benefits that have been covered.

Good luck on your search!
Eric

Hello all, just a quick update, but first, thanks to all for all the insight and valuable information. Great stuff! The update being that I've found a van, settled on a price, and am in the process of setting up the logistics for picking it up. Details and pics to follow, but in short, it's very close to what I set out to buy, a 2000 EB30, Quigley, 7.3. All it's lacking is front/rear Aluminess bumpers, so any advice on aquiring those outside of going direct to Aluminess would be appreciated (but that seems to be the only way to go). And I'm going to paint the wheels black, just because. I look forward to being an owner within a week, and will post some "before" pics of the road trip home, and some "after" pics with the bumpers.

Thanks Tim, yeah quicker than I expected. I was hoping to have the patience to at least make it to the Fall "selling season", but didn't even make it that far. Now I've got a tough decisions to make on an October trip I'm taking from California to Glacier National Park, and Banff and Jasper. Honda Africa Twin, as originally planned, or SMB? Or, tow the bike and have the best of both worlds, hmmmm.

Hey everyone, I'm home with the new rig after a proper 1400 mile road trip through MT, ID, WA, OR, AND CA, with lots of highway, and just enough off-road and back country travel to realize these things are f-ing awesome! I've got some BFG AT's on the way from Tirerack, and SMB West will be installing the front/rear bumpers next Wednesday. Quicker/cheaper for me to drive to Fresno, rather than SoCA, or pay shipping. Powder coating the wheels black to match the bumpers. Zappo, I have that exact Kendon trailer. Great trailer, I just wish it was more off-roady. I bounce it around quite a bit, and so far it's held up well, but beefier suspension/tires/wheels would be nice. I'm curious how it'll sit behind the SMB. BTW, I'm selling my very well built Lexus LX450 (97, factory lockers, 2.5" OME lift, ARB front bumper, 4x4Labs rear bumper, etc.) if anyone knows anyone looking for one. Now to figure out how to post some pics, hmmm.

Some pics of the new rig

Trying to post some pics.

That's a really nice, clean-looking rig! Nice score! Is the interior a homebuild or did SMB do it? I've never seen a stove setup like that. Interesting...

Looks like a modified SMB build. The counter top is not SMB.

As for the stove, I love the idea, never seen it, maybe part of the mods done by someone? Or did SMB do it?

Please post some more pics of the stove setup when you get a chance. Folded down, etc.
