I have asked for contact information on several of the used SMBs on their site. They have given me more photos but won't give me contact information, saying they are to screen to protect the sellers. Daa :c1: h.

It might be so they get their cut when its sold. Ironically, I have had a great experience getting information from Lynn re: used smbs - but I don't know if she ever gave me a phone number. I ended up not buying through them.

To sell you pay in advance, so collection is not an issue. They do screen and protect the seller. They will give you information and photos and answer all your questions. When you're ready to buy they will contact the seller.

Ready to buy is the operative phrase here, asking for contact info on van after van is probably the red flag for them. Narrow it down with Lynn to one or two that you're serious about buying then ask for names and numbers.

SMB West worked for me

While I didn't end up going used, Lynn did provide very timely response and contact information when I asked for it.
When I didn't get response from a seller, she chased him.

It seemed to work for me. I only chased 2 before I decided to go new.

We purchased our SMB back in March. Though we did not buy through the SMB website we inquired about several and never had a problem getting contact info.

SMB West

Lynn Joseph is the go-to-person there. We have had GREAT service from her. The name of this blog has not been our experience in the least. Sorry your experience was different.

Lynn at Sportsmobile provided me every little bit of info that was available to her when I was shopping for a SMB (including contact info). I was plesently suprised just how helpful everyone at SMB wsa before, during and after my purchase (even though I ended up buying used from a different source). SMB West support is as good as it gets, in my experience.

After putting down the first $3K for our order on a new van, someone put up nearly the identical vehicle for sale on the SMB West previously owned site. I e-mailed my anguish to John Kalmbach who was shepherding our build. He was quick and gracious, more than willing to hold our sale in abeyance while I investigated the used van. After a looking into it further, I realized the used SMB lacked Starcool which was a non-negotiable item for us because we were headed for Texas, so we continued with the new van but I was incredibly impressed by the flexibility the company demonstrated.

We've been dealing with Lynn for the past 2 weeks on our SMB and i have nothing but good to say. She helped and emailed me back very fast with answers. She gave me the contact # of the seller so i could arrange my own test drive. Im not aware that SMB is making any money on the deal since im paying the private owner directly and i have negotiated with the seller directly.

Sellers pay $1,000 (at least last year) to have them post it to the site and help with the sell.

Yup. She's very helpful and even after the sale, everyone there seemed to bend over backward to give you what you need.

Yup, I agree.

Without Lynn, I wouldn't have acquired my "keeper". She locked it in for me.

For new buyers:
If you really want one(SM:cool: and it's "The One", then you pretty much need to have your finance lined up (cash in hand) to be first in line.

There are alot more SMB's to choose from today compared to back then but I think it still applies if your looking for a particular configuration.

I had like 5 people behind me making counteroffers over the phone while I traveled to buy my used low miles Granny owned sportsmobile; with Lynn's arrangment and my cashier check; it was the only thing that trumped.

I have still yet to see one come up for sale on Sportsmobile's site that matches the mods and configuration I'm happy with. Maybe one.. but not two.

Having just sold mine thru SMB West I can tell you how it works. You pay $200 up front to list and you need to have good photos and complete description. Lynn screens buyers for serious potential then gives them your contact info. Upon completion of the sale you need to pay the balance due of $800. Lynn is a sweetheart and very helpful with the process. It helped me that I have met Lynn many times at the factory and three rallies, and that she was quite familier with my van, although I would guess she treats everyone the same.
