We are getting ready to sell our van and would welcome feedback from this community before officially listing it.

I expect the main feedback will be "more photos!" -- exterior, interior, undercarriage, engine bay, etc. Yep, got it. :) As much fun as we've had with the van, we realized we don't have many listing-quality photos. So, we are working on taking some quality photos now.

While we do, we'd like to get early feedback on any key information we may be missing, and get a read on pricing. All constructive feedback is greatly appreciated, as are direct messages sharing your perspective on pricing, please.

History
The van was an original Sportsmobile/Quigley conversion back in 2002 (we have the original paperwork). The original owners barely used it, eventually selling it to the owner we bought it from. By the time we bought the van in 2020 it had only 53k miles on it. The owner that we bought it from had redone the interior to their preference. That layout didn't work for us, so we decided to gut it and do a complete interior redo. We've loved and used the van over the past 5 years -- bringing the mileage to ~80k. We've taken some amazing trips: everything from local Pacific Northwest get-aways to several National Parks and even an epic Seattle to Cabo and back to Seattle 6-week adventure. Through it all, the van has been amazing! It pains us to sell it.

Reason for Selling
We are planning to focus on international travel for the next 2-3 years and hate to see the van sitting. We've made some wonderful memories with the van and would prefer to see some other owner/family make their own memories.

Thanks in advance for your feedback/input!

That's a great-looking ad, and van. If you happen to have a maintenance record that predates your ownership, it should be noted. Check spelling on "Victron". Power top? Pricing input will need a lot more pics... keep 'em coming

Thanks for the feedback.

* We have very limited maintenance records prior to our ownership -- mostly just the original Quigley and Sportsmobile paperwork.

* Victron spelling corrected - thanks

* Pics coming in the next couple of days ... need some sunshine here in Seattle

* 2002 build vs 2003 model year -- agree confusing. It's a 2003 model year, but delivery of the van to Sportsmobile, and their and Quigley's work took place in late 2002. I should just leave out the reference to 2002 as, I agree, it's confusing.

  • Model year is whats listed on the title/VIN. When it was title'd doesnt matter. Use a VIN decoder if you are uncertain.
    • This is actually super important as some states have different titling requirements by model year and countries have different import regs/taxes by model year. This is all based on what the VIN says.
  • Suggest breaking the listing down as follows:
    • Basic facts and figures (year, make, model, VIN, title status (clean, salvage, lien, carfax report, etc)
    • Driveline details
    • Body Details
    • Camper Conversion Details
      • Include capacities, electrical details, battery size, etc
    • Maintenance History - give approximate dates and mileage
      • Dont list oil changes - no one cares
    • Items Included with Sale
      • List loose items included with sale like the jack, bike racks, any camping stuff, etc
  • Get rid of the italics - for example line 1 list the poptop under the camper conversion details, list the top bolts and gaskets under maintenance history with an approximate date and mileage
  • Sheel-Mann is hyphenated
  • Dont list Security. First off now I know that this vehicle has a Cyclops system so its easy to defeat, second off aftermarket security is as much a turn-off as a turn on to some people.
  • Provide a floor plan and rough dimensions of the layout if it is truly custom, if its a standard SMB layout list it as such.
    • Listing interior as "custom" is a total wiff. Provide details. This is the most critical part of the van.
    • List sleeping surface sizes - sleeps 4 is a loftly claim- are these munchkins that are 5 foot 120 lbs or linebackers at 6'4 300 lbs?
    • No reason to list sink, fridge, toilet since you already provide those details elsewhere.
  • Include under-chassis photos and list any defects with photos if you want to get top dollar.
  • Calipers is misspelled.
  • If the tires are 80% tread and even worn and new within the last 3 years, list the tread depth and year, if not, leave it off

Thank you for the helpful feedback. Will update and post once photos are ready.
Cheers
