E-series High Top Roof Rack

Hey there,

I was wondering what are the options for installing a roof rack on high top E-series? Is there anything on the market right now that clamp on the gutter rails and clear the high top?

At the highest point (at the back) I would need 27 inches of clearance between the gutter and the top.

I would imagine custom roof rack is the only option? I was thinking if I can somehow get towers that clear my top then I can build a platform made of 80/20.

Alternatively I could make hole in my top and run extrusion stud vertically up. Those stud would be bolted to the side and the floor of the van.

Any ideas?

You could start with a set of generic gutter mounts and build what you want from there. Depending on how handy you are, you can get exactly what you want.

I had AJ's build mine, over a 20"aero top.

Nice unit you got there. I like your setup with the roof rack.

I am not that handy unfortunately, I dont have any welding/fabricating knowledge..

Ill see if I can find someone locally that would be willing to build something for me. Sounds like custom is the only way to go.

If you have welding skills it is possible. I built my low rack back in 2004. I put the same top I believe you have (Tuff port). As far as the gutter mount, that is the easiest part because you can fabricate them on the ground. The hardest part for me will be measuring the frame by myself. I will post my rack pic and a few Hi top racks I ve come across.

I had mine custom built in Alamosa back in 2007.
We did what @loper suggested: get a set of generic gutter mounts and build what you want from there.
