Whiskey Victor sounds great. I am looking forward to seeing them for sure.....and I think it will be a wife pleaser...lol....I have not been able to get her to go camping with me in a while.

Update attendee list (please let me know if I’m missing anything or anyone (hard to do this on a phone)). More details to follow early next week. Just to remind everyone there’s no cell coverage in the NRocks area due to the nearby presence of the National Radio Observatory (museum on site worth checking out). NRocks does have free WiFi at the Welcome Center.

Hello all! I have been off this grid far too long. If I can make, it will be last minute.

Looks like an awesome trip and well planned!

So bummed I can’t make it! Have a great time everyone! Would love to try out the MTBing in the area.

All,
Was able to grab some pictures today. Plan is to relocate the tables around a main fire pit (visible right side below). This will give us space to circle the wagons around the perimeter of the camping area. A few thoughts:

-It takes 5-10 minutes to walk from the camping area to the NRocks Welcome Center (all downhill from the camping area).
-The camping area sits in a draw between two large hilltops. This will have an impact on solar charging. Folks are welcome to bring/run generators if desired.
-Recommend leveling blocks. The camping area has a slight slope (visible below).
-Although there are no hookups, fresh water is available at the NRocks Welcome Center. Restrooms are also available there.
-Free WiFi available at the Welcome Center (no cell service in the area).
-Best way to pay for camping/activities is via check (made out to NRocks Outdoor Adventures). Rates are $7.95 per person/per night camping. Activities are discounted per the earlier pm.
-Please check in at the Welcome Center. I'll have a packet for you there with waivers and area info. I'll collect fees and waivers Fri evening and again on Sat morning.
-Band starts at 6:00 on Sat.
-NRocks is located at 141 Nelson Gap Ln Circleville, WV 26804.

The band sounds great. We will be traveling over on Friday afternoon. We probably won't arrive until 7pm or so. Will the NRocks Welcome Center still be open for check-in?

Thanks again tlg for coordinating this meetup!

For late arrivals (after 5:00), I'll relocate welcome packets to the camping area. To reach the camping area, continue past the NRocks Welcome Center on Nelson Gap Rd (gravel). Travel uphill for around .5 miles. The camping area will be on your right. A sign and green cattle fence identify the site. If you hit Nelson Gap Ln you've gone too far. Maps below.

Updated Weather

Still a ways off but current weather forecast calling for 40% chance of rain Fri evening. Partly cloudy on Saturday and sunny on Sunday. Temps in mid to high 50s with lows in mid to high 30s. Will keep a close eye on the reports.

Updated attendee list/weather. Forecast now calling for 40% chance of rain Fri morning with partial clearing Fri afternoon. High will be 60 on Fri. Lows in mid to high 30s through the weekend. Highs still in the 50s on Sat/Sun. Attendees:

1. Twoxentrix: 2 camping/1 via ferrata
2. UpZMtn: camping/mountain biking
3. 86Scotty: 1 camping
4. Shyll: 3 camping/mountain biking
5. Marret: 1 camping/1 via ferrata
6. Gahamby: 1 camping/1 canopy tour
7. Wish41: 1 camping/1 via ferrata
8. SPR: 2 camping/2 via ferrata (possible)
9. AnnieO: Possibly Attending
10. DM: 2 camping/2 via ferrata
11. TLG: 1 camping/1 via ferrata
12. Oogs: 2 camping

For those with mountain bikes the trails depicted on the map above are not bike capable. Too steep (think lots of rock steps). There is riding available from the camping area but it’s limited to the gravel roads and a few logging trails (not maintained) that head up the surrounding mountains. Lots of hike a bike but the area is beautiful and worth a quick look.

Well I’m not able to make it again. I do have it on my calendar for next year. My current strategy is to fill my calendar with my own fun before family expresses a need for me to be here or there. I catch on.... eventually.
Enjoy the Appalachian spring weekend- nothing better!!

Thanks ever so much for organizing this rally!
I had an awesome time. It was great to meet everyone there.
Thanks to all who helped with the in the dirt bumper swap.
