Hi Everyone,

My 7.3 harness has seen better days in its 27 years. Ford no longer makes the part. Any thoughts or suggestions in terms of how to proceed? This is what I've come up with:

1. Pull the old harness and R&R it the best I can.
2. Order a harness for a 7.3 truck of the same vintage and shorten/lengthen where needed
3. Try and build a new harness from scratch if I can all the connectors, etc.

Please let me know what you think!

Lots of ways to go with this, almost immediately I'd suggest learning what OEM connectors and terminals are still available then work towards making one for yourself. I don't know what differences might exist between the E-Series and F-Series but that'd be a very tempting thing to try if new OEM's are available. Naturally you'd need an EVTM for the existing harness and another for the replacement.

For replacement connector shells and terminals DelCity and this site: https://www.clipsandfasteners.com/ There is a Motorcraft Wiring Pigtail Kits Identification guide most likely found through Motorcraft which is invaluable to "easily" obtain OEM part numbers of most every Ford electrical connector.

This would be somewhat time consuming rounding up all the parts and overcoming the learning curve of DIY harness fabrication but in the end you'd have a wealth of knowledge and experience.

OTOH finding a replacement harness in VGC or better then refurbishing it would be a bit less involved.

How did this swap of the riff raff or pro source diesel work out for y’all? Pretty much an exact swap? Much work getting it to fit/routed? I’ve called both companies and they won’t guarantee it will work. Even Prosource diesel who have the e350 listed as a fit.

Yeah, the early harnesses for van's are NLA. I ordered from Prosource and it worked for my truck, not the van. I R&R'd the old harness and it's fine. Riffraff is a volume machine, so they won't be patient on these old vans.
