Well we found a van that fits our needs. That process seemed to be more difficult than it should have been.

We have been the full gamut of RV's. Started years ago with a Pop-Up. I miss that rig. Then progressed to a 26 ft bumper pull. It was a higher end unit w/ lots of upgrades. Then to a 37-ft Class A pusher. Sold the coach last week. It just didn't get used. Too darn big and too much of a PITA to go anywhere. During the sale process discussion brought us to the realization that we are Weekend Warriors. We like short term camping and adventures. We looked at many Class B rigs. But, never quite found what were looking for at a price we are willing to pay. So we bought a 2008 Ford extended passenger van, with a topper. It was a personal handicap van, in it's previous life.

Our intent is to build it in a modular design. Everything will be easily removable, so the use can change. It's going to be fun to build. And even more to play with.

Welcome. Sounds like me. I'm addicted to vans but have had all types......and still do I guess.

The van is a 2008 E-250 w/ minimal options. It has the tiny 4.6, which is ok, I don't tow anything. It is very clean, and well cared for. It has 68K miles. Coming from Grand Rapids MI.

The plan is to use unistrut to frame the bed, in sections for removal. For the wet galley I plan to use a tool chest as the cabinet. And similar for the fridge / keurig cabinet. Everything will tie to the floor w sailing turn buckles.

It will have 3 75AH batteries, in parallel. Charge from the alternator w/ an isolator and low volt module. I will also use a 5000 watt sine wave inverter / charger. If needed I will add a PVM and charge controller, to supplement.

A 5000-watt inverter? You might want more than 225 ah of battery bank for that.

I will not consume nearly 5000 watts of power. The system will likely consume no more than 1500. When it comes to inverters the large frame sizes have bigger heat syncs. Thus more cooling. Plus, the price point was right. ;)
