For Sale: 1999 E250 Sportsmobile

This is a nice rig. I'm considering a SMB capable of extended live-aboard (for just me) and this seems to check many of my boxes.

Does anyone here have an opinion on whether this van would be a suitable candidate (or not) for a 4x4 conversion?

This would be a good candidate. The biggest issue you’ll face is that it’s got the 5.4 v8. It’s a good motor with decent power but when you add the 4x4 components weight and the lift that goes with it plus bigger tires, it’ll slow it down.

That said, lots of people (me included) have had lifted rigs with the 5.4 and they were just fine. However, if you’re at elevation, you can always use more power. Just a thought.

Glider (username), Bianca (real name) has one very similar to this which she had converted to 4x4 by Quadvan. Hers is an EB pop top 5.4l with the generator (heavy) and basically everything else like this one. Look her up. She's very knowledgeable and can give you some feedback on what this rig would be like converted to 4wd.

That said, a 5-star tune does a LOT for the 5.4l

That van looks very clean. What's that pipe/tank on the drivers side running board?

The cream colored pipe/tank on the side, on the running board is a PVC gizzmo that has a cap that houses my corrugated sewer dump hose.

C'mon, you gotta up your RV lingo a little. That's called the 'stinky slinky'!
