Now retired, I'm selling our Sportsmobile to another lucky person, who I'm hoping can continue getting as much enjoyment out of her as we have.
General Specs:
- Ford EB-350 (Extended Body)
- 6.0L Diesel Engine
- Quigley 4WD
- Penthouse Roof
- Oxford White (exterior / interior images attached)
- Mileage: 246,900 (currently parked, and not used)
- Location: Southwest Virginia
Asking Price: $34,500 or best offer
Narrative:
This vehicle was custom designed and purchased from Sportsmobile North in January 2005. Although we have some personal miles on the vehicle, the vast majority were on-road for our business travels. (I'm a retired photographer). She's never been "off roading", never in deep mud, but I have driven in some deep snow on a couple of occasions. We have also used it as a tow vehicle for at 25' and 20' Airstreams. My wife and I are now retired, and I don't like diesel engines to sit idle, hence this advertisement. I will note issues, etc. below.
In general, I would list the overall condition of the vehicle as "very good". Regular fluids changes and preventative maintenance has been completed over the years. In the past 7-8 years, our local mechanic has performed an annual inspection (jerk & tug) on all major components. As with any vehicle, we've had components replaced, a radiator or a turbo for example. Those squeamish over the 6.0L diesel engine, yes - our motor had the same issues all the 6.0's had, but parts were replaced with Bulletproof components, and we traveled on.
Additional Ford Options (from Sportsmobile's purchase documents):
- Power drivers seat
- Upgraded front axle
- Premium radio / head unit (see below)
- Trailer tow package for E-350
- Engine block heater
- 6.0L Diesel engine w/ 4.1 axle ratio (for towing)
Additional Sportsmobile Options (post delivery of van from Ford)
- 4x4 Conversion by Quigley Motorsports
- Aluminess Front & Rear bumpers w/ spare tire carrier & small gear box
- Hoop Steps
- Backup lighting in rear bumper
- Rear sway bar
- Bush whacker wheel flares
Interior Description by Sportsmobile
- EB-15 Floor Plan (Split custom couches in the rear)
- Leather front seats
- Light gray cabinetry (see photos)
- All electric (no propane onboard) Water heater
- Starcool III (rear air conditioner)
- Two (2) rear house batteries; 100 amp hr each
- Microwave
- 2000W inverter
- 30 Gal fresh water tank
- Penthouse top + penthouse 3rd bed w/ zippered screens all around
Additions / Subtractions by me:
- Line-X added in lower third of the chassis and under flares. (See photos)
- Line-X added to roof, A-pillars and around penthouse roof, including the rain gutters.
- Tires: Current shoes are BFG TA KO2's (this is my 2nd set of these tires, love them on this van) Current set has about 7,700 miles on them.
- Head unit / GPS (this was replaced Day 1, see Caveats below)
- Cabinet Removal: Porta-potti cabinet was removed (this was beside side doors); we weren't using it, and needed the extra floor space.
- Yakima Roof Rack Added - we've hauled everything up there from cargo boxes, to bikes and kayaks.
- All 4 vehicle batteries (2 house; 2 chassis) were replaced Fall 2024.
Caveats:
As with any 20 year old vehicle, there are a few things I would replace if I were going to put it back into full Class-B RV travel status:
- The vehicle has been winterized for about the past 5 years, not being used to live out of. Try as I might, Mother Nature threw me a zinger and cracked a water line at the entry to the gray water tank. This gray tank needs to be dropped (held in place by straps) and the line repaired.
- When the roof was Line-X'd, I cut the antennas to the head unit (GPS and satellite radio) The head unit is 20 years old, and should be swapped out to take advantage of new tech.
- Overall the body paint is in excellent condition, however I've been watching a few blemishes, and a single, small rust spot near the sink window. Both items could be fixed by a good body shop or detailer.
- One wheel cover is missing, which I will replace before the new owner drives off.
I've tried to include everything I could think of in the descriptions above, but I'm sure I'm missing something, ask me in the comments.
If you're interested in purchasing, please private message me at your convenience. The vehicle is not being driven anymore (other than short exercise runs) and is resting comfortably in my yard.
Thanks for your interest!
