This is a 2000 Ford E350 XLT 7.3 PSD 14 passenger van (windows and dual AC) that was modified by Sportsmobile in Austin, TX in 2006. See www.sportsmobile.com where it essentially replicates their EB model. I am the second owner and it was acquired used in VA to pull a 9000 lb race car trailer which it has done very well. It was previously owned from new by a NJ church. I wanted a vehicle that would allow some shelter from the elements (shore powered heating and a/c) and would allow me to “camp” at the various motor racing tracks or en-route which I visited during a typical 10-month season. In addition, I wanted to have it set up so that a race team of 3 or 4 could go cross country virtually non-stop and still allow one person to get some meaningful sleep while traveling. All the other van conversions of this chassis at that time added too much weight to the conversion such that the combined with the trailer, the maximum gross weight of the chassis is exceeded. While I believe that this vehicle complies with this limitation, to the extent that it is 4 up plus full fluids (water and gas) it may be slightly over that limit. I rationalize that this is acceptable because the tires are correctly spec’d, the trailer has two axle oversize tires and brakes and the van has a slotted brake upgrade on all 4 wheels.

Other than the shops that have worked on this, I have been the only driver since 2003 when I moved the vehicle to TX. I am very careful with it and try to never start it cold without going through a full heat cycle by driving at least 10 miles. I always use the built-in block heater when the ambient temperature is below 40 F and that makes a big difference to the starter load. I never use WOT and the modifications to the motor are sufficient for it to handle its close to 18,000 lb hitched weight. You can tow faster with a truck but without the comfort. I have extensively sound and heat proofed the motor housing to reduce noise and heat and when combined with its dual vehicle driven a/c units it has served its designated function very well. At the track it is wonderful even in a TX summer where the ambient temperatures exceed 100deg. The a/c does cope under these conditions but without shade the internal temperatures will reach 80/85 degrees. A lot cooler than trying to shelter in a trailer !

Maintenance has been annual oil changes with Rotella T synthetic and new filters. I have even made sure that the special coolant additive spec’d by Ford is added each year. This is an item that most PSD owners ignore unless a Ford dealer services the truck. Diesel Kleen or Archoil AR6500 Diesel Treatment used for all diesel refills since 42,000 miles. No stiction in evidence to which these motors are prone.

In the Fall of 2024, I had the annual service performed, replaced all the batteries (3), the rear shocks and the front ball joints. In addition, I had the air springs updated.

This is a 2 wheel drive vehicle. It is not fitted with any 4 wd components. It does have the stock automatic 4 speed 4R100 transmission with O/D and stock 10.25 axle and Limited Slip Differential with a 3.55 final drive using an ATS differential cover for cooling. Stock transmission cooler. Filter replaced at 60,000 miles. Service documentation available since acquisition.

No propane installation whatsoever.

I checked the SMB site for pre-owned inventory and didn’t see your van. If you can post an actual link to it that would probably help your efforts.

Here are some pictures:

SMB only advertises the units they have taken as trades or have on consignment. Mine is a private sale.
But I am going to post a short version on the SMB general forum.
Thanks
