Don't get all PC on me now.

John and I have been working on camping. Here is the plan as it stands:

Ok, I'm right now planning on camping at Dead Horse Point State Park on the 9th and 10th. Haven't made reservations yet, so wouldn't mind coordinating something with other early arrivals, there or elsewhere.

On the 11th we have reserved Dead Horse Point group campground. This will be the first official night and a good meeting spot.

On the 12th and 13th and 14th we will stay at a private group site that Hans knows of (pending verification this weekend with Hans and the owner). The alternative is to make reservations at a BLM Group Campground. Goldbar site B and D or Goose Island have some availablity that we could make work.

On the 15th those of us who remain will "be on our own". This would also be the official boondocking night if a group of us want to head out into the open camping areas and really get away.

Those staying the 16th can determine if they want to camp together or in groups. The group areas are all a minimum of 15 people.

Once the camping is settled we'll work on some sort of calendar, which days we think are best to see what, do what and we can go from there.

If I can convince Mary Anne that we won't spend the whole rally jouncing around in our van instead of getting out of it to do some hikes, we'll probably arrive midday to early afternoon on Monday the 11th.

We have a couple of favorite hikes in the Moab area. One is to Corona Arch, which is second only to Rainbow Bridge in size, and the other is the Fisher Towers hiking trail. Both are less than 20 miles out of Moab, and are BLM, rather than NPS. Our Elkhounds appreciate being able to go along rather than being confined to the pavement as they are in national parks.

Our participation is contigent on the timely arrival of a grand daughter. She's due June 5, but is threatening to arrive early. Time will tell.

John and Mary Anne

4x4ing is optional and we're tenatively considering only two days (W Th) as trail led 4x4 days, possibly one EB & RB and one RB only (not that the EBs can't take our long arse selves out on our own). There are a number of 2wd vehicles signed up and there is always the possiblity that other spouses would rather hike.

We are interested in the Moab Rally..We have 2wd 2003 Sportsmobile. May 11 to 15 would work for us.
Once you have further information please post it along with details and any other instructions.Or send email to jmclafferty@embarqmai.com
Thank you.......John McLafferty
