Anyone going to be in the Fruita, CO area this weekend? We're heading out for a long weekend of mountain biking and will be camped at 18 Rd or in the BLM lands just west of there in the Bookcliffs area.

SPRING IS FINALLY HERE!!!! (Yes Jage, I am shouting.)

that looks like the Kokopeli trail....brings back memories of hammering that stuff in the middle ring. Would love to join ya but 1,800mi RT for us, little much for a long weekend :b7:

I've never been there, but would really like to ride that area. We did a family road trip through Utah's national parks in Feb and the scenery is fantastic. Hopefully, I'll do an MTB/camping trip in Utah next year.

I notice we have a lot of MTB riders here, so perhaps we can coordinate a group outing?

Welcome to the area! I feel blessed to be able to ride there before work in the mornings! :a1:
I would love to join you for some biking but my wife and I are going to the San Rafael Swell this weekend.
If you need any info on trails or camping let me know.
Have a blast, the weather is supposed to be perfect!

Hey Josh! Fruita is like a second home for us in the spring and fall. Let's hook up one of these times so I can check out your rig.

Have a good time this weekend! Post some pics!

Adam

Saw a black SMB with the penthouse popped at the 18 Rd trailhead on Saturday. Anyone here?

Great time in Fruita with the SMB. Some pics to follow.

Heading down to Fruita Weds-Sun this week to work the Fat Tire Festival (OK, and ride too).

If anyone is down riding swing by the Rocky Mtn tent to say Hi! and check out a new ride. Will probably be parked out at Mary's and 18rd, just look for the Red Van...

(may even have a frosty beverage or two for post ride enjoyment...)

Cheers,

-derek

Sounds good! I think i'm helping the Hot Tomato Cafe a bit in the evening on the 26th. Come on down to Aspen St (my house, 2 blocks to the east of Fat Tire) the afternoon of the 26th if ya feel like it. Free beer & pizza etc.
Josh :b5:

Couple pics from our Fruita trip

We got to test out the new awning lights, the Pit-2-Go, and my buddy's fancy camera with long exposure. Fun trip!

What's the 47 signify? I think these are the first pics with the number visible..

Length of our loan in years! :a1:

Actually, its a leftover "gumball" from a kit car I have in the garage.

The pit to go looks like an improvement on my pit. An old washing machine tub. They radiate heat like nobody's business and burn clean.Plus a grill fits right on top.
Nice pics, I think i'll go riding today. :a1:

Yeah I like the night pit with the fire. I've heard that the washing machine tubs are getting scarce as washers are being made with plastic drums...

how would one find this road 18?

my wife and i spent last christmas and new years in southern utah. we _almost_ made it to Fruita.

insanely beautiful in the winter!

Hey there,
If you take the Fruita exit.
Go north across I70 and continue through the stop sign to Ottley
(to get to old town Fruita turn R at stop sign)
Right on Ottley to 18 1/2 rd
Left on 18 1/2 rd and stay on it all the way to your destination (8 miles?)
18 1/2 eventually turns to 18rd and switches to dirt
Parking lot/trailhead on left, campground a bit further north
Check out www.gjmountainbiking.com for trail maps & descriptions
Josh

Yea, there is an 18 5/8 or somthing like that. But if you stay on the path of least resistance you'll get there. :a1:
It's all measured from the border of the Zion Curtain.
