I am looking for information on the possibility of converting a 1500 RWD to AWD. I am not a big offroader. But do need occasional AWD.

My Grandkids want me to go camping with them. I would prefer to do that in a van that can also pull and launch/retrieve my boat.

I have access to all of the suspension and drivetrain FROM a 2003-2014 AWD Savana/Express that was unbolted.

My question is WILL IT directly bolt up to the frame of the same years VAN?

What issues may I run into?

I have searched and cannot find this information.

Thank You.

Sell 2wd, buy AWD.

Yes it will bolt up but you'll probably need a wiring harness, possible dealer reflash, etc. I have not done this specifically but I'm about 100% sure it isn't plug and play.

Most things should bolt up but your trans cross member will be different. Front passenger side mount is not on 2wd frames so one will need to be fabricated to hold the front diff. It's doable but its going to be a massive project.

Having converted my 3500 to 4wd, I CAN tell you that nothing is bold on. Even when you try hard ;)

You may need a re flash for the trans because the module is different (trans will need to be opened and the 4wd shaft be installed or swapped for a 4wd) and the ABS doesn't doesn't work the same with AWD.

Good Luck in your project
