*GRAPHIC* Cassette toilet leak - SMB interior ruined

Thanks for the emotional support, everyone.

I'm interested in seeing some top-class interior refits - anyone fancy sharing any standouts on here that come to mind?

Is sealed (varnished) lightweight ply still the best option for the cabinetry? I'd like to use something that doesn't swell up next time the shitter explodes.

Regarding flooring, the current (original) SMB floor seems to be a very hard wearing plastic / fabric wrapped over board and I kinda like it. Seems totally indestructible. Anyone know what it is?

I really appreciate any assistance.

Many of us here use baltic birch plywood. I'd also highly recommend DAP landau top adhesive for contact cement.....and headliner adhesive. They are both rated for high temperature.

Here is my build thread...it's long....

Well, I started removing trim pieces from the van last night. I’m photographing everything as I go.

The wiring is terrifying - scotchloks, wire nuts, everything run through sheet metal without grommets.

I also found the flooring ply is rotted out in the corner by the front right of the pull-out bed.

This was a ‘nice’ useable van that presented well.

I then went inside and started looking at woven boat flooring options.

Perhaps it’s time to start a build thread.

Very cold beer during the day and Tequila shots at night - Drs orders for pain and stress management.

Feels a bit like you were living in the Matrix before?

You are going to have an awesome rig when you get through this :d8:

Yes, start a build thread and keep the questions and asking for opinions. You have tapped in to incredible set of resources on this forum.:e5:

A few folks here have gutted their SMB interior with the intention of selling some of it, but sadly by the time it's removed it's mostly woodchips and sawdust.

In your case it's already mostly unusable so you won't have that heartburn......if you do there is always 1der's beer/Tequila.

...and yes there will be plenty of little SMB surprises along the way....like this fine workmanship where they cut the hole in the roof to install the penthouse....

Be sure there's a breeze and your upwind of the burning clothes! I just read this to my wife as we drive along in our 2001. I told her it helps validate the upgrade from cassette to composting toilet. No regrets on that expense. Nature's Head.
I'm glad you have the skills and tools, i"d be driving the whole van to the burn pile!

Thanks John. Sounds nice - do you have any pictures

Finally finished making some cabinets for the back of the van. Beats the plastic bins we used before. Love having the solid wood all around. The wood was from a desk someone was throwing away - it was free!

Hi Queenan. I started a new thread for the rebuild. It's pretty much done now.
