I put up a review of this dingus over on Expedition Portal:

With all the gear that runs off of wifi we now have (tablet, cameras, OBD, phones, computer) it's nice to be able to connect them all easily. This router runs off USB so it's very easy to power, and even has a USB port so you can set up central storage for maps, photos, music, etc that everyone on the trip can share. And I've found it's powerful enough I use it at home as well.

Great tip. We have a Verizon jetpack with monthly data limit of 5gigabytes but it's $50/month as a stand alone contract which is a bit pricey. You can put 5 devices on it at once. The jetpack was free with a two year contract. http://www.verizonwireless.com/b2c/devi ... ?&zipRdr=y

It looks like the HooToo is more versatile (stream movies for example) for considerably less cash.

Yeah, I've seen that a common use is for people to store movies on a thumbdrive attached to it, and then plug it into a 12v in the RV so folks can connect a phone to it and watch video as they toodle down the road. Probably a lot easier than mounting DVD players and such.

I'm now thinking of mounting mine permanently in the van so I always have my own network. I could then have phones, backup cam, music, etc etc all on the same local network.

I just wish they had one with an antenna port.
