Jackson Hole "Meet and Greet" June 21st thru 23rd

Up to a certain age, children are like dogs ... they just want to be with you and do what you do. To miss that is a missed opportunity for both the children and the parents.

Baby #2 will be 4 months. Too soon?

Never too soon to corrupt 'em.

(If we'd bought the winch, we'd make a fortune pulling cars out of the snow.)

Ok back to the Meet and Great.

I think the best way to Plan the site is to wait until we figure out how many SMB's within 5 or so that are coming for sure and I will scout for a big enough place once the snow melts.

You can camp in most BLM for 14 days without having to move so one could come and early or late with the weekend in the middle and do some exploring. :i2:

Spent some time looking at the suggested campgrounds in the Allstays app. Found most of them and they all look like good locations from the hybrid view.

Gnar,

going back to an earlier post of yours, I live in the Four corners area and would like to have another van for company going out to some of the more remote ruins. And I never get tired of Chaco or Canyon de Chelly. If you are still thinking of coming down here in the Spring, let me know.

Debbie and I will be there if the creek don't rise.

We were there in 2007. Things were different then.

Later when we on to Yellow Stone we made a gigantic discovery!

It was on this trip that we saw our first Sprinter. We were camped at Craters of the Moon National Monument in Idaho. We were visiting the Visitor’s Center. When we came out, we saw something strange in the parking lot.

Debbie – What the heck is that?

Keith – I don’t know what the heck that is!

Debbie – What in the heck is that?!

Keith – Hey, you kids! Get away from there!

Debbie – I would not mess with that thing.

Keith – Don’t put your lips on it!

Debbie – [ ever curious ] What the heck is this?

Keith – Well, get a photo of me with it, anyway!

[ Keith hands camera to Debbie, then walks away from camera view to have his picture taken ]

Debbie – Be careful with that thing. [ snaps Keith's picture, as spark of ingenuity develops on her face ] Oh, I know what that is!

Keith – [ returns next to Debbie ] Well, what the heck is it?!

Debbie – [ looks closer ] What is that thing..?

Keith – I don’t even care what it is. [ pause ] What the heck is that?!

Debbie – I don’t know what the heck that thing is.

Keith – Oh, I know what it is! It’s a Sprinter!

Debbie – [long pause] What the heck is that?*

And 6 months later we had one of the first SMB Sprinters!

Janet and I will be there with Vanessa. We plan to pick all your brains at the meeting for 2WD boondocking sites and hiking trails which we will visit for another week or so afterwords.

David

I will unfortunately not be able to be there. Build of my van should be finished or nearly but my trip will only start early July or so... Another time maybe...

Jackie and I are planning to attend. So excited to see other SMB Sprinters! We will be taking a 10 day (too short) vacation and plan to travel up US Hwy 191 through the reservations, Moab, Natural Bridges, and Flaming Gorge. We plan to place markers on places that we will visit when more time (retirement) becomes available. We will watch for campsites to firm up as time goes on.

JIM

The main campsite for the Meet and Greet will be 2wd accessible. I haven't picked a place yet do to the snow but I will post that when I know.

I'm thinking about setting up a site for at least a week or two. I can secure a a boondock spot for 14days for free.
That way we can set up a final campfire for everyone to attend, while allowing people to filter through or spend a week or two here exploring and use the site as a base camp.
Maybe using 23rd as the big meeting day and Photo shoot along with a night of fun and games.

My thinking is that with so much to see here it will take a few days to a week to see it all and those that want to can while having a spot return to after a scenic trip. Also with so many SMB's passing through going to other points north and south it would be a great stopping point.

Input on that anyone.

Do we have a head count for 6.0 vans? I'm thinking about investing in Ron's Towing.

We can count-off.

I'll start ONE!

I still have to go to Iowa and visit family in early-mid June and stopping here on the way back to CA. Undecided if I want to pull a trailer 4-5000 miles to bring firewood. Probably cheaper to leave the trailer at home and by firewood locally.

Count us in as a definite "maybe". Trying to work around our already planned summer road trips, but looks like this will work. Look forward to seeing some of you again and meeting some new friends!
Mike-if we make it, we'll have our trailer packed with some nice fire wood for you!
