Login issues

How many tries to login do I get? Yesterday and today when I tried logging in I might have mistyped my password once but I immediately got a message saying that I'd exceeded the login try limit and I had to put in a capshaw to login. (The capshaw says that it's case-sensitive and then presents you with things like "x" or "z"!!) I can't believe that after all this time I'm having this much trouble typing in my password. Has something changed on the forum?

Ya, I'm getting that too. On my tablet only. Logging in from the desktop works fine. WTF??

Glad it's not just me. Mine is doing it even when putting in the correct password the first time. I just have to type it a second time with the capshaw. Kinda annoying

Same problem. Tapatalk only. Both the phone and the tablet. PC working fine. I get the same message, it will let me type my password but will not show me the captcha.

I don't know what tapatalk is...

I'm using the same PC I've been using for years...

This started for me last night around 9:00 pm PDT with TT. This morning it has continued with TT. Switched to Safari on the iPhone but I am only able to log in using the captcha. Checked it on my MacBook with the same results, can only log. In by using the captcha.

No issues logging in via laptop (PC using Firefox) or tablet (Android using Chrome).

Automatic login on my PC continues to work fine. Login on my iPad was working fine but now getting the same message as others about exceeding the login try limit and getting the capshaw. It was not due to misspelling since my iPad automatically fills in the Username and password.

Diana, Tapatalk is a forum reader app that a lot of us use on smart phones and tablets. Save your 2.99 though, or whatever it is they charge now. It used to be good but a recent update made it pretty lousy IMO, and that was before these problems.

The Captcha continues on iPhone, iPad and laptop. I share Jage's suspicion of Tapatalk, esp. Given my recent experience with ads popping up in the unread threads section on this forum but not others. If it's challenged the forum's security settings in some way, it may not matter whether someone has used it themselves over not.

I share 86Scotty's despair about TT's recent "improvements" and will probably drop it. However, whether it's the culprit or not, fixing this login bug may be very difficult.

FWIW, I'd encourage anyone with this error to change their password and make it very secure, at least for a while. That means at least 8 characters long with a mixture of uppercase, lowercase, numbers and punctuation marks. Here's a website that can make one for you: https://identitysafe.norton.com/password-generator#. Another approach that I like is to write the first words of a song you like and use their first letters for a password. Change some vowels to numbers (a=1, etc.), capitalize something, throw in a question mark or semi-colon and you're done. Write it down, though.

I have the same problem with Tapatalk on my iPhone. Started about 3 or 4 days ago. Let's me type in the password, but then asks to fill in the Captcha which isn't displayed. Does not affect ExPo on Tapatalk.

No problems on my iMac or work PC (auto login on both).
