Longtime lurker - new member with questions

My 30" fiberine top has plenty of headroom to fully stand at over 6'1" that I am with tons of insulation etc and still room to spare. If you search through my threads I added a rear outdoor shower in my rear license plate location that works pretty well and is cheap and easy to do. I also plan on adding an interior shower someday by having a pull out stainless tray drawer with a small sump pump to drain the water. Then I'll hang a curtain from the ceiling and have a wand that attaches to my faucet for a fairly simple interior shower when the weather isn't nice. With a maxfan and windows it shouldn't be too hard to pull the air out and keep moisture at Bay. Storing stuff inside shouldn't be too big a deal either as long as you have a fan or two running to also help pull out moisture with a dedicated area to hang or store it.

This is basically where my head/budget is at - either building out an e-series van or an older transit and potentially converting it to 4x4. Do you mind sharing how much quadvan wants for the transit 4x4 conversion? Thank you

I think it will be in the $10-15k range. My E350 was $12k.

I looked for quite some time at older E350s. Mine was a 2008 with diesel and when I put 4x4 and bigger tires I was consistently in the 12mpg which bothers me.
Without getting into a religious war, I'll probably avoid diesels going forward but I'm not a tow person so much of the value is lost on me.

The Transit has better mileage on a strong 3.5 twin turbo engine. It's my favorite aspect of the new van.

As I look at the build side, I suspect it will work out more expensive to build than if I just bought an older used built version. That said, I like to try new things so this will keep me busy for the winter. If I do a good job and my wife likes it, I'll probably add the 4x4 and a CCV poptop.

There are some spectacular resources out there including this forum. Good luck of your search.
