Looking for greywater tank fixing advice

Long ago, I had two grey water tanks. Now I have zero that fully function. A rock on a gnarly trail completely ripped off one, and a tire blowout ripped off the drain from the other one.

I'm not at all sure how they attach from the top, so I don't know how to approach replacing the one that's gone. And I don't know enough about working on PVC and... whatever plastic these are made out of to properly approach attaching a new drain pipe to the one that's still there (the knife valve on the old drain was also destroyed by the blowout).

There are no places that work on RVs within 30 miles of me, and I've got space to work on it at home, so I'm hoping I can figure out how to do this myself!

If I were you, I'd measure the existing pipe, take a bunch of pictures and head to the local store that carries plumbing suplies and let the educated person guide your decision to repair.

Yep that's what I'd do too but head for an outfit that specializes in dealing with professionals rather than the typical Home Depot/Lowes/Menards.

I'd also haunt YouTube for plastic tank repair, possibly add RV in the search parameter. Has to be a few tutorials from others who've dealt with something similar.

I had something similar: stupid person in a parking lot damn near rammed me as they were backing out without looking; I swerved right, mounted a curb, and broke the drain side of my grey tank. The tanks are ABS, you get get ABS cement and solvent at any good hardware/home repair store. The actual dump valve you should be able to order online, e.g., Amazon. I'm thinking you don't have enough pipe left to connect a gate valve to, so I'd cut the elbow off leaving an inch or two on the tank, get another ABS elbow and a short section of ABS pipe, dry-fit everything, then clean with ABS cleaner, put on the ABS cement and connect (one joint at a time), then put the gate valve and cap on.

ABS fittings and supplies are getting harder to come by at the box stores but Lowe's near me has it and excellent help to answer questions as well. This can't be said for all Lowe's or box stores but some are good, precisely as good as the help they hire in fact.

Looks like you have enough on the elbow to get a step down (reducer) bushing. Should be a piece of cake to fix.! On the other since it is waste water, I would have a 10 gauge steel tank made with a hard mount and skid plate if your van is 4wd, and stainless if it is for drinking !
