Mice and penetrations

Hi,

Spent the afternoon cleaning out the van after we found a very nice mouse nest (made with insulation) in the top of the pullout pantry.

There were other gifts about, too but no apparent critter.

I’ve got a grating on the lead acid battery vent through the floor and on the vent through the wall.

All other penetrations look caulked with silicone. No sign they came through the ac/heater vents.

Any other place to look for access points? I know mice can get through very small apertures, but i’m not sure where to look.

Thanks all!

This topic has come up several times...interesting since there's mention of quite a few 'remedies' & exposure points I'd never thought or heard of. Try these Threads:

Thanks! I don’t know how i missed those. No food in the van when not in use.

Plenty of fun, chewy nest material. Paper towels, sponges, insulation.

Note for those interested: we (i) may have left the wastegate on the gray water tank open after flushing the system a few weeks ago.

It think the sink strainer basket would be an easy squeeze for a mouse. In chew-chew-chew-poop-poop-poop. Out.

We discovered some drilled/but not used holes in the floor of our van - 2012 SMB West build - on a trip up to Alaska back in the day - thru which "Topo Gigo" gained entry - and proceeded to build a nest with kleenex, etc. He tried getting thru peanut butter jar - ate some of my peanut M&M's (damn !) - but we guessed he jumped ship before entering Canada - not having a passport ! Determined little bugger ! Guessing he climbed up a tire ?
