My new old van -- 2005 Sportsmobile with UJoint 4x4

I'll give it a year of trial use before I "fully commit" to this van -- and then let get it as dented and scratched as my old van.

Wow it's so nice working under the dash in this new old van where all the wires are still clean and all the parts are shiny.

In my old van everything everywhere is coated with playa dust (and rust) from years of Burning Man use, and beach camping.

I'm betting if you don't have issues with rear overhang you will never go back. The extra 1.5' in an EB is a game changer for interior space.

Working on vans...

  • Swapping seats (I prefer the cloth seats of my old van to the vinyl of the new van).
  • Moving my under-dash electronic toys over.

Very cool new rig, congratulations!
Have you done any Baja trips in it yet?

No big adventures yet, and I will likely start with something in this country!

The biggest thing this van needs is a new electrical system -- new battery, and add solar.

I got a cheap Indiegogo deal on the new ACOPower Li-Cube battery https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/acopower-li-cube-stable-lithium-rv-battery#/ but they are moving very slowly actually building and shipping out these batteries. I am beginning to regret going this route!
