Hello!

After a long 20 month wait after deposit, I picked up my van from Sportsmobile TX. I live in California, so the week back was my first trip and feet first, jump right in sorting out ALLLL those details. There's a lot! I made it back fine.

I have a 2021 4 x4 Sprinter EB van. I outfitted it to be a mini apartment on the inside. I'm more into comfort than off roading. 😉

I have yet to sift through the different posts, and direct me as needed... my main question is which product would be best used for not very deep scratches? I can't be the only one, because I've not had car paint scratch so easily in my life! I have the graphite grey color.

I managed to not notice low hanging trees and the entire top portion had scratches that look white, but I can mostly wipe away with some pressure. I'm not taking it in for a professional redo so early on in my ownership. I need to do this myself. I am pretty confident that this will be the first of many such scratches. I mean, 2 weeks in and already a mess.

Other than that, I look forward to owning a fantastic van and getting more comfortable being able to take off and enjoy the outside world!

Best,

Yvette

C’mon, you gotta post photos! [emoji3]

One suggestion: measure the height of your van and post it on the dash where you can easily see it. It’s a good reminder that you now have all that van body overtop of you, and also comes in handy in garages, drive-thrus, etc.

New van

I think one photo uploaded correctly. I mainly stuck with standard options and colors with the exception of the flooring, the refrigerator and the rear bathroom.

I'm aware of how tall my van is :) Intuitively, not so much. I forget to look up. My scratches happened in the stupid DMV line as I was more concerned not to side swipe the poor nervous teens waiting to take their drive test. The DMV is also not considering above average vehicle ht driving through!

Re-size the pictures before posting and they won't rotate.
Where in CA are you located? It's really nice when members add a location to the signature.

Agreed on adding a location even if its approximate.

Keep in mind most forums display photos in an 800 X 600 pixel manner, the width of 800 pixels being shown as we might normally expect them to appear on screen. Photos that seem "wrong" tend to have that as their main issue.

Modern forums care not a whit on photo size. They accept any size photo and figure out how to post it for you without wasting the poster's time.

Forum a hassle to use

Thanks for that, Pntymvr! I would post a lot more on this forum if it wasn’t for the clunky format. And I am sure a whole lot of others feel the same, especially new users.
Let’s face it, this forum is mostly a bunch of old guys (not entirely of course) , and most old folks are generally not “intuitive” when it comes to computer use. Once one figures it out the SMB forum isn’t all that bad, but speaking for the occasional user it just isn’t worth my time to bother with complicated posts. I have better things to do.
We, the SMB forum community, are losing a lot of valuable content from a host of fine people because of this problem.

I only post pictures (that I have previously edited/re-sized just a bit to keep the picture from rotating) from my computer, that way I can open two windows, copy the BB code from the picture I have saved in the Forum album, paste it into my post, and then post it up. Clunky at first, but easy enough once you get the hang of it.
Oh, and if it’s a long post I write it in Word first and then copy and paste the text in, this to prevent being timed out.
Also, don’t forget that you have a limited time (24 hours?) to edit your post, so don’t forget to go back and proof read what you have written once you have posted it.

Yes, it’s a bit of a PIA, but you all are worth it!

Thanks. Even worse trying to edit/upload via phone. I'm no stranger to posting pics online, and this format is going to take me a beat to figure out where to post and reply correctly. :p

PS: sorted the scratches. They are still there, just not noticeable.

Many here including myself use Tapatalk. It’s a forum app that formats for “smart” devices like phones and tablets, and it’s much easier to post your photos to threads.
There was a rumor that SMB forum would no longer be supported on Tapatalk after plans were announced to migrate to a new server, as some other forums have done recently and then disappeared from the platform, but so far it’s still functioning.

I don’t care who provides the easiest access to forums, but I have one serious gripe.

Upload any size photo and figure it out for the user.

I’ve put any size photos up on a almost unused forum with no sizing hassles, but here I have to futz around with sizes and it limits what I can post.

Maybe that’s a good thing, but come on.

Adapt or be forgotten.

Agreed the system is clunky. I wish tapatalk was still the portal. Logging in every time is old school.

I wasn’t an old guy when I first got here

Hmmm, I don't have to log in every time. I'm using Safari on an iPhone.

The SMB mobile site is one of the best mobile sites I know of these days in terms of usability. IMO Tapatalk has gotten pretty awful, full of ads and definitely clunky.

:b5:

WELCOME!!! Yes notorious sideways pics, we old foggies, technology....lol......And MOST frustrating is when you write your copy, search photos to add, only to come back and find all your entertaining words are gone bc it has timed you out/logged you off....so, copy your copy so you can then just add while yo go back to post all the pics you figured out where they were to post...
