Bajasportsmobile can fill you-all in on the history of this particular race car. It's a very historic and extremely cool rig!

When your first truck breaks and you have to borrow a rig you get to drive something like this.
It may look a little rough but the 427 Crate motor more than makes up for the ugly!

I've been wanting to make it down to watch this for a while now. Maybe I can make it next year.

Jan and I finally made it back home last night - more than 2 weeks and 3000 miles in Baja, an awesome time. Van performed perfectly with only a reoccurring blow fuse for the radio - somehow associated with the back door vanity light switch. We put on a lot of off-road miles and camped on some cool beaches.

The NORRA race was a great excuse to go to Baja and provide some added adventure and excitement, as well a great parties, food and drink. The finish party was awesome in Cabo with way too much food and drink. The $60 wristband as a team member is well worth it.

That black "Blazer" is a full factory supported effort from 1974. It is all tube constructed and has very little that is actually factory, in fact it is scaled down and quite small. It was driven back in the day by Frank "Scoop" Vessels to several wins. Scoop was killed a few years ago in his private plane. The car was restored for this race and one of the drivers was Scoop's son Kash Vessels. It is a very important vehicle in off-road racing history.

We should start planning now for a Sportsmobile group to follow the race next year, and explore Baja on the way home. Jan and I would love to show some of you all the places we enjoy in our SMB.

Thanks blupaddler. I keep it in San Diego. Drove it to Mikes Sky Ranch from San Diego. I trailered it to Calexico to drive across the border for the Mexican 1000.
Its getting race prepped for fall outings now. Done for the summer.
