any no cal SMB owners interested it a meet & greet somewhere in the
Sac'to area...we can "chew the fat" discuss common SMB issues and be
a byod (d=drinks) a maybe, a BBQ ??

I'm game!

Even better if it were a campout.

- Half Moon Bay State Beach
- Pinnacles
- Anchor Bay
- Don Pedro
- Clear Lake
- Sly Park (near Pollock Pines)

Or, somebody may have another favorite spot to camp..

I'll volunteer to bring firewood to a campout.

Mike

I'm for a camp as well. The weekend of the 13th, I'll be in Reno. The 19th is open for me anywhere in the area.

Another suggestion would be the 'hardly strictly bluegrass' free festival in S.F. at the golden gate park, the weekend of 10/03.

I have a friend with a westy who reserved a large RV slot at http://sanfranciscorvresort.com/

I stayed there last year on the beach side and it was alright. I'll find out what slot # we're in and post back here so anyone interested can book near us. the facility is 'ok' but the beach side lot was really cool.

This is an AWESOME free concert with 7 or so all day stages. As the title goes, it's less bluegrass and more a mix of rock, country, jazz, folk, etc.

UPDATE:
Ok, I’m in spot #3, which is actually not one of the larger spots. I ended up changing to a smaller spot closer to the beach access because I talked to them and they said I couldn’t put two SMB’s in one long spot.

I called today and spoke with the gal there about anyone wanting to get a spot close by, and she said to just mention my name (Brian Watson) and they could get anyone some spots next to me, as long as they’re available.

I'm fairly busy but will keep open minded if someone comes up with a date and area. I would rather be up in altitude a bit.
Leavitt lake.
Eagle Meadows road.
Maybe a short run like Old Coulterville road or some runs around Edison Lake area in Kaiser wilderness but that might be a little south for some.

I'm up for a boondock on the 19th as well as my trip to S.F. I had some friends who just came back from clear lake and they said the area was a bit of a mess. Some sort of algae bloom in the lake bringing loads of bugs.

You bring the firewood, I'll bring the steaks. No kidding the best New Yorks you've ever had.

My vote is for somewhere remote, with altitude, but I'm flexible and see who else wants to input to the plans.

The Upper Tamarack Lake is located approximately 2 miles northwest of Sierra City. Five hundred fingerling rainbow trout are planted in this lake each year.

Directions from Sierra City: Travel northeast on Hwy. #49 for approximately 4 miles, turn left onto Gold Lake Hwy. Travel approximately 1 mile and turn left (southwest), continue for 3 miles west to Packer Lake Road. The picnic ground will be on the right. The Upper Tamarack Lake is approximately 0.5 miles southeast of the picnic ground.

Seasonal Information:
Normally Open: Year-round .

It's not a very big spot, could maybe host 4 or 5 vans, and there are a few other little spots around the lake to the west. I camped there years ago in my jeep and hiked to a very cool spot on the east side of the lake where a huge fire pit had been made of a naturally occurring hole in a granite clearing.

There's a semi 4x4 trail, nothing to worry about except one tight squeeze around a corner if you're afraid of manzanita pinstriping. Just have someone spot for you.

It is first come first serve, so I'm leaving at noon on friday and should be there before 3 or so. I figure even if it's filled up there's lots of places to go in the area and I'll just figure it out. If I have cell reception I'll be able to get online and post a follow message to this thread as to availability.

There's a lower lake which is much easier to get to and has more spots, but this is what having an SMB is all about. I'll be there this weekend. Anyone else interested?

I'll be there Buji!! :b5: Only be able to spend Friday nite as we're leaving on Sunday for a few days of houseboating. Probably beat ya there as it's only thirty minutes from me abode.
We're starting to get some fall colors up here and the place you've picked is great! Warm days and cool nights. Sure hope others will join up.
Steaks and Rum - yum, yum :a1:

I'm thinking I can't make it. Its not a perfect storm, but close. I've got to head off to Jury Duty (never a good time for that), have a weekend appointment with Hazardous Waste and my wife just got back from taking care of her mom for 10 days (got her into an elder care facility). And I think we are taking the son-in-law out for his birthday.

We'll see. Maybe I can come up on Sunday (day trip only- Jury Duty, you know).

I'm retiring at the end of the month. Hopefully, the next months are less hectic.

Anybody wants to drop by I'll still furnish the firewood. It's in clean boxes.

Mike

don't sweat it. I'll probably be leaving early sunday morning. Work on Monday and all.

Scatter - sent you a PM

I'll be there with my SMB. It uses more fuel than some other things I have, but it is an SMB meet and greet.

Hope to see many of you in person!

As someone who is retired, you'll be wondering how the heck you did it all and still worked!
