Had a great time last week driving the rig around the White Rim Trail. As long as one ignores all the Subarus and old people on bikes coming the other direction, it seems like a hardcore off-road adventure.
Spent Saturday exploring other areas including Comb Wash Rd:

Sunday morning I checked in and set off down Shafer Trail. Talk about a "trail" by fire! Steep and many tight switchbacks:

I found taking the van out of 4wd helped get around some of the tighter switchbacks.
Had lunch overlooking the Colorado river:

Night one at Gooseberry:

Doesn't look like much does it? Walk about fifty feet from the van and there's this:

White Crack is the place to camp if you can get it:

Murphy's good too:

Second night at Potato. Good place as long as no one is driving by as the dust is deep and wide. Note high dollar shower enclosure--helped with that not-so-fresh feeling though:

Last day. And, yes, that is a truck coming. Turned out to be a bunch of LAtinas from LA who couldn't back their old Suburban up at all so I had to back it into a wide spot to get by. I wonder if they are still alive.

The White Rim is definitely a must do!
