And last but not least a couple of the SMBs in the group camping area.

Class/Seminar coverage now live on Expoloring Elements

http://www.exploringelements.com/event- ... sseminars/

Check out the pics and some of the valuable info that I gained from the Expo. Such a good place to learn from the best in the business.

-Brent: Love the camp photo, can't wait to see more! I thought I got a shot of every van at the expo, but somehow missed taking a shot of yours! Full van post about the expo coming Sunday.

"Only real gripe about the entire Expo is that no attendance was taken at any class, especially annoying after the very lengthy registration process. For classes that where for people who paid for the Overland Experience package only, there should have been some way of checking who was in attendance. I’m sure that many day pass holders attended many of these classes for free."

Thanks for all of your great pictures and information. Before the Expo I wondered about what you have said in the statement above. Had I gone to the Expo I would have only paid the day rate, assuming I couldn't take any classes. But, had I then realized I could sneak into classes free, I probably would have done so. You are right. This is not fair to those who pay the full price.

Thanks Kayaker!

I did not take many images this trip. Took the weekend off for the most part from the camera but will post a few more soon.

I agree with Mac about the process. We paid for the full package and I saw day passers in some of our classes. It was not cheap as you know for the whole package. We did not get what we paid for in that area.

I had a great time overall but was disappointed with the lack of organization with some of the classes. Half our classes the instructor was late. Some were stand-in's for others who were MIA and a few it did not seem they knew the material they were teaching. There were a few really good classes and instructors but by the end of the first day I wondered what the next class was going to be like. Some class areas were double booked so we took them where ever there was space. Not good as some would have been good to take on the obstacle course instead of flatlands etc.

I thought I may have been too critical or alone in my thoughts but one of the last classes we took there were a lot of people talking about the same subject when we showed up.

I will be back as overall it was a great experince but probably won't book the Experience Package next year.

Day Passers Rule! :e1:

No I didn't sneak into any of the classes. Seems too much like learning to fish inside a Bass Pro Shop to me.

FWIW, I had my orange day pass wrist band on, but I was wearing a long sleeve shirt, so you couldn't even see it. That said, I wasn't able to park until they verified that I had paid for the day, and that's when they issued me my wrist band.

Lucky for me things were kind of loose. I bought an OzTent when I was there, and it comes in a large, somewhat heavy, cumbersome box. When I was getting ready to leave, I walked back to my truck and drove right into the vendor area to pick up the tent and put it right into my vehicle.

I think most people opt for day passes after first year. I did. No classes, just venders and cruising thru the camps. But I agree that roll call should abided by..

Quick snap on the way home from Expo. Stopped on the side of the road near Yuma. Should have stayed at Expo as I heard the images were much better from that area.

Full Vendor Report on Exploring Elements

Check out all the cool gear I found at the Expo and be sure to check out the expanded FB gallery.

I think I got my moneys worth with the Experience package, as my classes where quite good and tought by very qualified instructors. I would do it again for sure if it was organized a bit better.

Love the pics Brent, and glad you got to have a chill no work weekend:)

That is an excellent write-up! I didn't meet too many SMB owners (they were Expo'ing) but I did talk to Jason of PRG. I think I may pick up the swanky Solaire Grill he had attached to his ladder.

I also saw your rig in Flag at the car wash and was going to stop in and chat but it looked like some hot and furious vacuuming going on and I was late to the dentist anyway.

Full vehicle coverage of OEX '12 now live!

All the cool rigs and motos at OEX. There where so many cool vans that they get thier own post tomorrow. Stay tuned:)

Lots of good expoing going on by many of the Sportsmobile owners for sure. The Auto Trans Driving class had 4 vans and was quite fun. I have some good video going up with the van post tomorrow.

JoeH: You should have said hi. Always like to meet fellow Van owners. I spent over 3 hrs trying to clean the Mojave Rd. dust off/out of my rig. Still tons of dust and going to need another detail soon. A dusty home sucks, but it sure was fun getting it dusty:)

Thanks everyone for all of the great pictures and info from the Expo.

At least we get to see what we missed.

We had planned to go again this year as we had fun there last year but we were both really sick including high fevers and we just were not up to the drive out and back...maybe next year...
