Well, it's been a year since the engine was dismantled, parts were cleaned and changed. What procedure should be followed for the first start?

If it's the 7.3, There is a procedure to bleed the oil system if the valve covers are off.

Otherwise, this is what I do after injectors are out...

All fresh fluids of course.
Crank engine for 10 seconds. Wait 1 minute. Crank engine for 10 seconds, wait one minute. Crank engine for 10 seconds. Charge batteries for 30 minutes or until full.
Check and service engine oil.

Repeat.

If it hasn't fired by the second round, let the starter cool down and batteries charge for 2 hours.

Repeat.

yes it is the 7.3
i changed the heater plugs
water pump and removed the upper oil pan
replaced the filter and oil cooler

level are made

on the automatic gearbox the oil change was also done

the oil radiators are empty as a result

Youtube! I'm sure there are lots of 'first starts' on a 7.3 rebuild on there. But film it for us too!

Congratulations! Sounds like you're getting close.

If all you did was replace the glow plugs, water pump and oil cooler, the high pressure oil system and HEUI fuel rail doesn't need to be purged. Cycle the key to run 3 times to fill the filter bowl, service all fluids and crank it. It should start pretty quick.

I forgot to mention, if the High Pressure Oil system was opened up (Injector or High Pressure Oil Pump removed/Replaced) Then top off the High Pressure Oil Reservoir before cranking and check it after the first crank or two.

engine start does not mean finished there is still much to do but yes it is already a first step

the construction of the interior will also be done this winter ;)

When I put a new HPOP and lines in my 7.3 it took a shockingly short time to fire compared to everything I read and was expecting for. Make sure the batteries are charged, if its cold like below 70, plug a block heater in for a few hours to warm the engine, and give it a crank. Fired on the second run of 10 seconds, ran real rough for about 30 seconds, and gradually smoothed out.

You do gotta drive it and get it up to operating temp to get all the air out, so dont be surprised if it doesnt run super nice until you can do that. Can't get enough heat into the motor or pressure in the oil system just idling or revving in place.

Yup. Forgot about driving it.

It doesn't sound like the high pressure oil or fuel system was opened...

But if it was, after warmed up I go for a drive and make progressively harder pulls to work the air out of the injectors. When the air is purged it will run clean, no smoke (depending on injectors and tune).

When there's still air trapped, it gets smokey pretty easy.

Thank you for your information, it is never very cold here. I changed the diesel system.
I did the bleeding and pressurization before installing the carcass to see if there were any leaks

question at how many km should the injector seal be changed? Is there a recommendation or are there defects over time on the seals?

The orings degrade over time, but I haven't seen any reccomended interval for changing them. I do them on condition (if one fails, I change them all). When I have changed them, usually only 1 or 2 look bad, the rest appear serviceable.

no need to disassemble and replace as a precaution as the heating plug has to be changed

for my engine I wouldn't do it because it is already reassembled and in place and I only have 110000km

It's for my friend who attacked the Ford in restoration its engine and disassembled it and he will do the glow plugs

Hello the engine started well last Saturday
today impossible it turns but does not start
do you have a wanted notice ....

Has anything been done since it ran last?

Batteries fully charged.
Does the 'Wait to Start' illuminate when the key is turned to the run position?
Check the oil level.
Do you have a tachometer? It needs to crank about 250 rpm to start.

I didn't do anything on the electrics, I changed my gear change cable
Can't excess gearbox oil affect starting?
