I have edited this for the key details to be up front.

I have opened a topic to see if we can organize a meet and greet for the growing PacificNorthWest SMB family.

Date: June 19th, Saturday for a barbeque and meet and greet.

Location: Lake Sammamish State Park

State of Washington: Lake Sammamish State Park?
2000 Northwest Sammamish Road,
Issaquah, WA 98027-8918(425) 455-7010?

There is a click and zoom map after the link

I'll show up at 2pm and will start a grill at 4pm or so. Given my kids, I'll probably be heading out at at the earlier end of the evening.

Bring what you like to drink and eat. If it is poor weather, I'll bring a canopy.

While they have firepits, my first priority will be finding parking where we can be parked together.

On the list expecting to attend are:
Seattle
Twolost
Roonie
CJ
Bitburger
Railbait (late arrival)
Mjeffery
BrianpGreen
Velogeo
Jimapal

If anyone else is in the area, they are welcome to show up. I'll treat the first beer or soda if you aren't too picky about your choices. :b1:

The parking lot isn't so large that you will get lost, just look for the big vans:)

You read my mind. I was out of town that weekend but let me talk to my bride and see if we can move a couple of things.

Count me in. I should be around and it would be great to meet some other local folks with SMB's.

Also fun to show off my new to me 06 SMB......

Thanks for taking the lead and making this thread. I work Saturdays, but I could get there around 6pm, so as long as folks are still there at that time, I'd make the drive.

I know last time folks talked about a more remote location and maybe a camp over, but Lake Sammamish did work well, as it has a large parking area and is a central location. To get a larger group together this time it seems like this would work and there can always be more meets later.

A few weeks ago the Northwest Overland Society had a weekend meet at the American River lodge, off of Hwy 410 on the east slope of the Cascades. It was an ideal location for meets of this kind for a weekend event, but does require a reservation and payment to get it.

+1

Thanks for setting this up! Single day is a great idea, much easier to fit in to the summer schedule :) My kids will flip out seeing so many vans in one place!

Sorry folks. I cant make it. Tickets were already bought :-( . Maybe we can do another get together at the end of the season.

From the portland area & considering SMB sprinter RB, maybe with a pop top. We would like to see other SMB sprinters. Any of these going? Could make the trip. Or anyone in the Portland area within a few hours drive that would be willing to show us your rig.
Thanks

Well it looks like there are more Neys than Yehs with the meet-up date of the 19th of June. Maybe the date needs to be changed to draw more attendance. I live in the Gig Harbor area and would be interested in a Northwest Meet-up.

If this meet and greet is still on the calendar(?), TWOLOST + 1 is in.

Cheers,

I say it's on.

I also exchanged email with Peter (Velogeo) and he is expecting at attend as well.

I'll pull together some details and post this week. For those that can't make it, perhaps we can look at something else in Sept.

It will be great to see old friends and new.

Mark

If we are still on for this then time and directions (or address for GPS) would be good. We are still in it looks like.

Dang it! Looks like we will miss it by one day. The 19th we have plans to be on our way up to Whistler. The 18th would be perfect; we catch the 930 ferry from Victoria to Port Angeles.

Hmmm! maybe we could do some rearranging... just need a place to spend the nite. :b6:

Would be cool to attend the PNW greet from SoCal. :b4:

:b5:

OK so as we re-think our plans :a1: We are looking for a place to camp the nights of 17,18,& 19. I messed up in the previous message, we will be comming from Victoria the morning of the 17th.

Your campgrounds are very busy in the PNW. :a5:

Got suggestions where to camp for the 17th?

On that same subject how about a place to camp later in the week around Whistler or close to it??

Thanks, we just might make the MnGreet. :b5:

Hey CJ,

Ha, you will get the long distance M&G award for sure! Sweet.

Here are some web links that I ran across while attempting to answer your question regarding places to camp. These links were chosen due to their proximity to the proposed M&G and Whistler, BC:

Mt. Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest

Wenatchee National Forest

Washington State Parks (search)

North & Central Cascades Region

As far as camping or boonedocking near Whistler... there just has to be something rad between Squamish and Lillooet. I have done a few day trips in the area on my motorcycle... including forest service roads - but I have not had the opportunity to camp in the area.

Camping - Squamish, Whistler, Pemberton & Lillooet BC

Cheers,
TWOLOST :b6: :b7: :eek:3:

and if you know of or find a cool area to camp pass it along as that is on my short list of places to go with the SMB. I too have been motorcycling around there (most dual sport riding) but never camping nor with the SMB. Mt Baker has a lot of wilderness and is also on my short list as well.

Good luck.
